The former Take That singer, 49, has been a life-long fan of the team in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, where he was raised, and it\u2019s said he has been backed by a consortium to take over the League One side, with a potential TV spin-off attached to the project.<\/p>\n
A source told The Sun: \u201cIt\u2019s really early days, but Robbie\u2019s been formally approached to see if he\u2019s interested in fronting a bid.<\/p>\n
\u201cPort Vale remains one of (Robbie\u2019s) greatest loves, and it\u2019s always been a dream to be more involved. He\u2019s had a couple of meetings, and his backers are incredibly excited.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey feel Robbie would add the star quality, and make Port Vale a major player.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIf dad-of-four Robbie did buy into Port Vale, he would be following in the footsteps of Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, as well as NFL star Tom Brady, who invested in Birmingham City FC.<\/p>\n
\nThe Sun\u2019s insider added: \u201cSeeing what Ryan and Rob have done with Wrexham \u2013 the increased footfall, merchandise sales and general profile build \u2013 is inspiring. Port Vale fans love Robbie and, on paper, it\u2019s a match made in heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nRobbie, who co-created the Soccer Aid charity football matches, played for his beloved club at Vale Park in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, in a 2001 testimonial, and later helped design their shirts.<\/p>\n
\nHe also founded his US-based football team in 2005 called Los Angeles Vale.<\/p>\n
\nFootball fanatic Robbie was previously quoted by The Sun saying in the US about actor Ryan\u2019s investment in the Wrexham football club: \u201cThe Ryan Reynolds thing is intoxicating. It\u2019s a beautiful story. It\u2019s fascinating. It\u2019s a fairytale.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019d like to be involved in something like that. My big love in football is Port Vale, a very small team in the UK, so somewhere down the line I\u2019ll have something to do with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
