The \u2018Eyes Wide Shut\u2019 actress, 56, who has played a series of ultra-stressed women on screen including tortured writer Virginia Woolf, added she is fascinated by the slithering reptiles due to the way they move and constantly shed their skin.<\/p>\n
She told Vogue Australia in a cover interview that featured her posing with a black snake coiled round her neck: \u201cI like them\u2026 I think it\u2019s something to do with the same way that I skydive or scuba dive.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think they\u2019re very beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mum-of-four Nicole added she finds snakes \u201calluring\u201d and is fixated on the way \u201cthey slither and move\u201d and by the notion of shedding skins.<\/p>\n
\nShe went on: \u201cYou can become and try different things, all the time, which is what excites me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhen asked if she felt as if she is still reinventing herself at this stage of her 40-year acting career: \u201cI don\u2019t even see it as reinvention. I think it\u2019s more like different facets that you discover that are in existence, but you are attuned to the discovery of them.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYes, I remain very open and still very passionate about what I do, and curious. And those elements haven\u2019t been dampened.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYou can either become more rigid as you become older, but you can also become more free.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBorn in Hawaii but raised on the North Shore of Sydney, Australia, Nicole said her obsession with snakes is also probably linked to the deadly wildlife that packs her homeland.<\/p>\n
\nNicole \u2013 who had adopted children Bella, 31, and Connor, 29, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, 61, and has daughters Sunday Rose, 15, and Faith Margaret, 13, with her musician spouse of 18 years Keith Urban, 56 \u2013 added: \u201cWe\u2019re used to it. You dive into the swimming pool, and we\u2019re like, \u2018Be careful of the funnel-webs that can form a bubble on the bottom of the swimming pool.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWith the kids, you\u2019re like, \u2018Eyes peeled, eyes peeled!\u2019 When you\u2019re walking barefoot on the rocks: \u2018Blue-ringed octopus, be careful, in the tiny little crevices!\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cBut it doesn\u2019t stop you walking on the rocks. It doesn\u2019t stop you exploring\u2026 which, I suppose, is very much a metaphor for the Australian spirit.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe cannot be stopped.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere was always that searching out the dangerous things, as well. For the drama of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
