Elle Macpherson<\/a> around 30 years ago and says she still keeps in touch with the other \u201cSupers\u201d and feels a massive bond with them when they meet now.<\/p>\nShe told Grazia magazine: \u201cSuddenly we were propelled into stardom in a really short period of time \u2013 bigger than actors, singers and the like.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt had never been seen before in the modelling industry.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m of course closer to some than others and when we see each other, even if it\u2019s not regularly, it is like the familiarity of meeting up with someone you went to high school with!<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYou feel very close because you experienced such important moments together, and it feels like no time has passed.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhen asked for her best memories of the Nineties, Claudia said it was \u201cthe comradery, the creativity and the friendships\u201d between her and her fellow models.<\/p>\n
\nClaudia now lives a much quieter life than in her Nineties heyday at her homes in London, Suffolk and Oxfordshire with her filmmaker husband Matthew Vaughn, 52, and their three children, Caspar, 20, Clementine, 19, and 13-year-old Cosima \u2013 as well as a menagerie of four dogs, two cats and three tortoises. <\/p>\n
\nShe said about how today\u2019s generation of models and fashion fans are still amazed by the Nineties \u201cSupers\u201d: \u201cAs Supers, we were seen as individuals who traversed boundaries and, as pop music, fashion and style converged, we became household names.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe represented self-made success, which was a gateway to today\u2019s generations who\u2019ve taken it to another level.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think there\u2019s also curiosity about how it all happened before the age of social media!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe added about how the \u2018Supers\u2019 changed the landscape of modelling: \u201cPrior to the Nineties, a model\u2019s career would rarely last past her thirties and there was a constant turnover of faces and types of beauty.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWith the supermodels, careers started to last longer as we became powerful brands in our own right.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cNow models are working well into their fifties and beyond.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cDiversity in age, sexuality, shape, and race is an incredibly positive change and allows for a much broader, healthier scope of identification and representation. Fashion can be a provocateur. But it can also be a real changemaker.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
