Season 12 of Chicago Fire<\/em><\/a> is shaping up to be a year of change \u2014 but when it comes to characters Violet Mikami and Sam Carver that might be a good thing.<\/p>\n

After struggling with boyfriend Evan Hawkins\u2019 (Jimmy Nicholas<\/strong>) death last season and saying goodbye to BFF Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende<\/strong>) earlier this season, paramedic Violet (Hanako Greensmith<\/strong><\/a>) could use a fresh start. Enter Firehouse 51 firefighter Carver (Jake Lockett<\/strong>), who caught Violet\u2019s attention since joining in season 11.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat vibe is very there,\u201d showrunner Andrea Newman<\/strong> told TVLine<\/a> on Friday, January 26, of Violet and Carver\u2019s chemistry. However, the Chicago Fire<\/em> boss<\/a> noted Violet\u2019s \u201cbeen through a lot, so it\u2019s not like she wants to jump into anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ever since Chicago Fire debuted in 2012, the romances have run high in the Windy City \u2014 and that expanded to Chicago P.D. when it launched in 2014 and Chicago Med, when it began in 2015. Whether you spent years pining over Casey and Dawson and were heartbroken when they [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Newman confessed: \u201cThere is definitely some undeniable tension between the two of them, and we\u2019ll be playing with that a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

She described Violet and Carver\u2019s season 12 dynamic as \u201creally fun\u201d and \u201cvery playful,\u201d which is refreshing for fans to see. \u201cIt\u2019s not a tortured relationship,\u201d Newman explained.<\/p>\n

Newman pointed out that even with Violet\u2019s work partner paramedic Sylvia Brett (Kara Killmer<\/strong>) preparing to leave Chicago this season, she isn\u2019t letting it get her down.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s great about Violet is that she\u2019s just incredibly strong,\u201d Newman said. \u201cShe\u2019s gone through a lot, and she\u2019s going to come out of it much stronger for it in some great ways. We get to see that play out over the course of the season and get to see her step into the spotlight in a great way. So we\u2019re very excited about Violet\u2019s [arc].\u201d<\/p>\n

Violet potentially finding love again is a bright spot for Chicago Fire<\/em> fans after multiple stars announced last year that season 12 will be their last<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed in November 2023 that Killmer, who has been playing Brett since season 3, will be leaving at the end of season 12<\/a>. Newman told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday, January 24, that Killmer, 35, is \u201cleaving us this season\u201d \u2014 but not before viewers see the end of her love story with Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Rosende, 30, announced in December 2023 that the season 12 premiere would be his final episode after four seasons<\/a> as firefighter Gallo.<\/p>\n
