A number of Democrats have flocked to California Rep.\u00a0Judy Chu<\/strong>\u2019s defense after her \u201cloyalty\u201d to the United States was called into question by Texas Rep.\u00a0Lance Gooden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cGooden\u2019s slanderous accusation of disloyalty against Rep. Chu is\u00a0dangerous, unconscionable and xenophobic<\/a>,\u201d House Minority Leader\u00a0Hakeem Jeffries<\/strong> said in a statement lambasting Gooden on Thursday. \u201cLook in the mirror, Lance. You have zero credibility.”\u00a0<\/p>\n Jeffries came to Chu\u2019s defense after Gooden\u2019s remarks on Fox News on Wednesday: \u201cI think that Judy Chu needs to be called out.\u201d The Texas Republican said, \u201cI question her either loyalty or competence. If she doesn\u2019t realize what\u2019s going on, then she\u2019s totally out of touch with one of her core constituencies.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n The first Chinese American woman elected to Congress, Chu blasted Gooden on MSNBC on Thursday, saying: \u201cRep. Gooden\u2019s comments on Fox News questioning my loyalty to the USA is absolutely outrageous.\u201d She added, \u201cIt is based on false information spread by an extreme, right-wing website. Furthermore, it is racist.
