Holding onto hope? Todd<\/strong><\/a> and Julie Chrisley<\/strong><\/a> have turned to their faith for comfort after being sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison<\/a> for fraud scandal.<\/p>\n \u201cYesterday was a difficult day for the Chrisley family,\u201d the couples\u2019 attorney, Alex Little<\/strong>,\u00a0said in a statement to People<\/em><\/a> on Tuesday, November 22. \u201cBut Todd and Julie are people of faith, and that faith gives them strength as they appeal their convictions.\u201d<\/p>\n The lawyer claimed that the Chrisley Knows Best <\/em><\/a>stars\u2019 trial was \u201cmarred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid.\u201d He concluded: \u201cBased on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n Todd, 53, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Monday, November 21<\/a>, while his wife, 49, was ordered to serve seven years. The duo was also given 16 months of probation after being indicted on 12 counts of tax evasion, bank and wire fraud and conspiracy in 2019.<\/p>\n The USA Network personalities were found guilty on all charges in June after going to trial one month prior. The reality stars\u2019 accountant, Peter Tarantino<\/strong>, was also found guilty by the court and was sentenced on Monday to 36 months in prison.<\/p>\n Throughout the scandal, Todd and Julie have maintained their innocence<\/a>, claiming that former employee Mark Braddock<\/strong> was to blame for allegedly exaggerating the couple\u2019s earnings to banks in order to borrow more than $30 million.<\/p>\n Todd\u2019s two eldest children, Kyle Chrisley<\/strong><\/a> and Lindsie Chrisley<\/strong><\/a>, whom he shares with ex-wife, Teresa Terry<\/strong>, have since shared cryptic messages about the heartbreaking news<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cDo not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judges, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you,\u201d a quote from the Bible read on Kyle\u2019s social media page on Tuesday. \u201cWhy do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother\u2019s eye and pay no attention the plank in your own eye?\u201d<\/p>\n Lindsie \u2014 who was previously estranged from her father and stepmother<\/a> before their trial \u2014 shared her own message of hope via her Instagram Story on Monday<\/a>. \u201cThe best girlfriends, show up in the bad times with hugs and champagne,\u201d the \u201cSouthern Tea\u201d podcast host, 33, wrote at the time, tagging two pals.<\/p>\n The \u201cCoffee Convos\u201d podcast cohost included a video of her friends sitting on a bed together, teasing her as she zoomed in on them.<\/p>\n Todd and Julie, for their part, share three children: daughter Savannah<\/strong><\/a>, 25, and sons Chase<\/strong><\/a>, 26, and Grayson<\/strong><\/a>, 16. Savannah revealed during an episode of her \u201cUnlocked\u201d podcast that she had taken custody of Grayson and niece Chloe, 10<\/a>, since her parents\u2019 fate was announced.<\/p>\n
