Dana Carvey\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> son Dex Carvey\u2019s<\/strong> official cause of death has been revealed.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office ruled on Tuesday, January 23, that Dex died on November 15, 2023, from \u201cdrug toxicity\u201d due to a combinaton of fentanyl, ketamine and cocaine, according to records obtained by USA Today<\/em><\/a>. The manner of death was ruled an accident.<\/p>\n

The final coroner\u2019s report is pending.<\/p>\n

Dex\u2019s official cause of death comes two months after Dana, 68, announced that Dex passed away<\/a> at the age of 32 in a joint statement with wife Paula Zwagerman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHollywood mourned many celebrities in 2024. Speed Racer star Christian Oliver (born Christian Klepser) died at the age of 51 during a fatal plane crash on January 5. Oliver was traveling home from a Caribbean vacation with his two daughters \u2014 Madita and Annik, whom he shared with wife Jessica Klepser \u2014 on January 4. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cLast night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental overdose. He was 32 years old,\u201d the couple wrote via Instagram<\/a> in November 2023. \u201cDex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things \u2014 music, art, filmmaking, comedy \u2014 and pursued them passionately.\u201d<\/p>\n

They continued, \u201cIt\u2019s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. \u2026 Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever. To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to his death, Dex was following in his father\u2019s comedic footsteps. He snagged roles in the 2013 miniseries The Funster<\/em> alongside his father and 2015\u2019s Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser<\/em>. In 2016, he opened for Dana on his Netflix special Straight White Male<\/em>. He was also a founder of Third Wheel Comedy, a live performance venue in Hollywood, and was gearing up for an upcoming project with B-Sides Comic.<\/p>\n

After a brief hiatus, Dana returned to his \u201cFly on the Wall\u201d podcast, which he cohosts with David Spade<\/strong>, earlier this month. During the January 17 episode, the comedian opened up about how he and his family have been dealing with their grief.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s me and my wife and our son\u2019s private journey,\u201d Dana, who also shares son Thomas, 30, with Zwagerman, said. \u201cWe\u2019re all together, and we do a lot of fun things. We hike, we go to church. You just want to make sure that you keep moving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dana noted that he is suffering from the same kind of \u201cpain\u201d that \u201cmillions of other people on this planet\u201d also endure, adding, \u201cAnd you don\u2019t know how long you\u2019re going to be on it or when it will stop or when it will get better. But in the meantime, all of this kind of stuff is very healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n
