Before Brayden Bowers<\/strong> got down on one knee during The Golden Wedding<\/em>, Wells Adams<\/strong><\/a> tried to convince him otherwise.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told him he shouldn\u2019t do it,\u201d Wells, 39, said with a laugh to The Messenger<\/a> on Monday, January 22. \u201cBut Brayden did ask Gerry [Turner]<\/strong>, and Gerry gave the blessing, so I think once he gave the OK, it was OK. But yeah, you don\u2019t want to take the spotlight away from Gerry and Theresa [Nist]<\/strong>, but if anyone can do it, it\u2019s Brayden. He\u2019s the best by the way. I love him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brayden, 25, popped the question<\/a> to Christina Mandrell<\/strong> during the live broadcast, which was attended by more than 50 Bachelor stars. Despite his initial hesitation, Wells noted that \u201cthe most special moment\u201d of the night was when Brayden asked for Christina\u2019s hand in marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a two-for-one special and that was pretty crazy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDisney\/James Clark Brayden Bowers and Christina Mandrell\u2019s relationship was one that none of Us saw coming after his appearance on Bachelor in Paradise season 9. \u201cShe actually DM\u2019ed me! She slid in my DM\u2019s and it was funny \u2019cause we started hitting it off,\u201d Brayden revealed ahead of The Golden Wedding in January 2024. \u201cWe [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Brayden and Christina, 28, found love outside of the franchise, the Bachelor in Paradise<\/em> bartender wished Christina had come to the beaches of Mexico \u201cbecause then we would have an even better story.\u201d (Christina competed for the heart of Zach Shallcross<\/strong> during season 27 of The Bachelor<\/em>, whereas Brayden was initially part of Charity Lawson<\/strong>\u2019s Bachelorette<\/em> season 20 and joined BiP<\/em> season 9.)<\/p>\n

While the decision sparked controversy among fans of the franchise, Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, later confirmed that Brayden had asked for their permission<\/a> before the proposal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve heard a couple comments, like, \u2018Oh jeez, that was inappropriate,\u2019 and, \u2018Why steal the thunder and the spotlight from the wedding?\u2019\u201d Gerry said earlier this month on the \u201cBachelor Happy Hour\u201d podcast. \u201cBrayden called [me], and he was very sincere and earnest about his request.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the phone call, Gerry asked Theresa for her thoughts, and she was enthusiastic about the idea. Gerry then gave Brayden the green light, adding that he considers Brayden a \u201cpretty good friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Theresa\u2019s eyes, the proposal \u201cdidn\u2019t interfere\u201d with their wedding, since it happened before she and Gerry began their ceremony. \u201cI say live and let live. The more love the merrier! It\u2019s fine,\u201d Theresa insisted.<\/p>\n
