WGA Rules Out Potential Oscar Nominees \u2018Anatomy Of A Fall\u2019, \u2018Poor Things\u2019, \u2018Zone Of Interest\u2019, \u2018All Of Us Strangers\u2019; Places \u2018Barbie\u2019 In Original Screenplay On Ballot https:\/\/t.co\/8AJzp4VGAc<\/a><\/p>\n

The Writer’s Guild has announced which scripts are ineligible for their awards and as usual, major award contenders across the board will be left out.<\/p>\n

In the Original Screenplay category, Oscar frontrunner and Golden Globe winner Anatomy of a Fall<\/b> will not be able to nab a nomination. Neither will The Boy and The Heron<\/b>, A Thousand and One<\/b>, or Fallen Leaves<\/b>. But Barbie<\/b> will, as the guild has placed it in this category, unlike the Academy. So, too, has Origin<\/b>, despite being based on and inspired by the book Caste.<\/p>\n

In Adapted Screenplay, Poor Things<\/b>, The Zone of Interest<\/b>, All of Us Strangers<\/b>, Across the Spider-Verse<\/b>, and Society of the Snow<\/b> are among the ineligible group.<\/p>\n

The WGA does not allow any script for movies not produced under its Minimum Basic Agreement or a collective bargaining agreement with affiliated countries to compete.<\/p>\n

Nominations for the WGA Awards will not be announced until February 21, almost a full month after Oscar nominations, which are announced tomorrow morning at 8:30am Eastern Time<\/b><\/i>. Its own awards ceremony won’t take place until April 14, another month after the Oscar ceremony.<\/p>\n
