Saoirse Ronan<\/strong><\/a> and Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong><\/a> were going to have cameos in Barbie, and the details make Us<\/em> even sadder that it didn\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what [Timoth\u00e9e] was going to be, but I was definitely going to be a Weird Barbie,\u201d Ronan, 29, told Variety<\/em><\/a> in a Saturday, January 20, interview at Sundance Film Festival. \u201cI don\u2019t know how to take that. I mean, I would have been with Kate McKinnon<\/strong>, so that would have been nice. \u2026 I had a scene but didn\u2019t ever get to do it, and it wasn\u2019t in the movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI can\u2019t even remember now, but it was weird. I think I\u2019d be the strange girl who talked to herself and always had her pet dog with her and always talked to the dog and wouldn\u2019t look at anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chalamet, 28, and Ronan both costarred in director Greta Gerwig<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Oscar-nominated films Lady Bird<\/em> and Little Women<\/em>. She was hoping to reunite with the duo for the third time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt seems like Barbie has everything \u2014 girl power, big laughs, more shades of pink than any of Us knew existed \u2014 but director Greta Gerwig had to cut a few things from the massive blockbuster. Allan\u2019s \u2018Jaws\u2019-Inspired Scene Gerwig filmed a scene that paid tribute to Steven Spielberg\u2018s classic film. \u201cWe did this shot [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI tried to get them both in it. I really did and they both couldn\u2019t do,\u201d Gerwig, 40, told Hollywood First Look<\/a> in July. \u201cIt was, like, a scheduling thing. She was actually producing, so that was great, good on her. But I tried to get them. It makes me it makes me feel like I\u2019m without my \u2014 they feel like my children.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Wonka<\/em> star opened up about his missed cameo opportunity last month while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was an idea for Saoirse Ronan and I to do a cameo in it,\u201d Chalamet explained. \u201cI don\u2019t know what the cameo would\u2019ve been. I think it would\u2019ve been one of the rejected Kens or Barbies. Not Alan! But something. Maybe there was a reject French one along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

While filming a scene wasn\u2019t possible, he got to briefly visit Gerwig on the set of Barbie<\/em>. \u201cWhen I finished Wonka<\/em>, they were \u2014 the Barbie<\/em> set had been built,\u201d he shared, noting he went from one fantastical land to another.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGreta Gerwig\u2019s Barbie movie has been deemed an adapted screenplay rather than an original. Variety reported on Thursday, January 4, that the Writers Branch executive committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) made the decision that Barbie will be eligible in voting for best adapted screenplay instead of the original screenplay [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

They certainly weren\u2019t the only stars who couldn\u2019t make it to set. Barbie<\/em> casting director Allison Jones<\/strong> told Vanity Fair<\/em> <\/a>last year that Bowen Yang<\/strong>, Dan Levy<\/strong> and Ben Platt<\/strong> all had to turn down roles as Kens due to logistics. \u201cThey were \u2014 I\u2019m not kidding \u2014 really bummed they couldn\u2019t do it,\u201d Jones said.<\/p>\n
