Crystal Hefner says her marriage to controversial Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner came with the \u2018price\u2019 of enduring a huge \u2018power imbalance\u2019<\/p>\n
The former Playmate, 37, was 21 when she was invited to stay at the Playboy Mansion in October 2008, and a few months later she and Hugh entered a relationship \u2013 before Crystal became the pornographer\u2019s third wife when they tied the knot in 2012. <\/p>\n
They stayed married until Hugh\u2019s death at the age of 91 in 2017 from sepsis, and she has now opened up about the problems in their relationship ahead of the release of her memoir \u2018Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself\u2019. <\/p>\n
She told People about how their marriage came with a \u201cprice\u201d: \u201cI realised I was dealing with a really big power imbalance. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt seemed like a world of success and fantasy, but everyone\u2019s having to sleep with an 80-year-old. There\u2019s a price. Everything has a price.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe added about struggling to become Hugh\u2019s \u201cfavourite\u201d woman in the early days of their relationship: \u201cAt the time I thought I was on top. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI thought, \u2018Wow, if I just like everything that he likes and do all the things that he wants me to do, then I\u2019m the favourite.\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I was, but I just lost myself in the process.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nCrystal also opened up about the filthy conditions within Hugh\u2019s famed Playboy Manion in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cThis place doesn\u2019t really get cleaned that well and there\u2019s mould, and it just felt just kind of run down and gross after a while. Too, too many parties. It was worn out. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI feel like I was constantly crying for everything and everybody there\u2026 it was all an illusion. I don\u2019t even know if I was happy, to be honest.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nCrystal, born Crystal Harris, also revealed in 2023 Hugh taking so much Viagra to maintain his erection in the years before his death he went deaf in one ear. <\/p>\n
\nShe told the Daily Mail: \u201cHef always said he\u2019d rather be deaf and still able to have sex. Weird.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
