School will soon be back in session for Euphoria<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> HBO and Max Content CEO Casey Bloys<\/strong><\/a> confirmed in a recent interview with Deadline<\/a>, revealing that creator Sam Levinson<\/strong> is \u201cbusy writing\u201d scripts for the third season, three of which Bloys has already read.<\/p>\n \u201cSam is an incredibly talented writer; he\u2019s got a lot in store for these characters, and I\u2019m excited,\u201d Bloys added of the hit teen drama, which stars Emmy-winner Zendaya<\/strong>. But like most episodes of Euphoria<\/em>, the good news ends there. The series will debut in 2025 after about three years off air\u2014and a production start date has yet to be set, \u201cbecause there\u2019s a lot of schedules that we have to align,\u201d said Bloys.<\/p>\n With the exit of Barbie Ferreira<\/strong><\/a> at the end of season two and sudden death of Angus Cloud<\/a> last fall, the reshuffled cast now boasts multiple movie stars\u2014Saltburn<\/em>\u2019s Jacob Elordi<\/strong>, Anyone But You<\/em>\u2019s Sydney Sweeney<\/strong>\u2014making the show\u2019s third season (or the possibility of a fourth) a logistical nightmare. \u201cObviously the cast have all become stars, which you love to see\u2014and Zendaya is obviously a big movie star,\u201d Bloys told Variety<\/em><\/a>. \u201cSo, there is a practical reality to that. But it also depends on the stories Sam wants to tell. He\u2019s in the thick of writing season three right now, and we\u2019ll leave it up to him and have those conversations about what he wants to do.\u201d<\/p>\n Beyond Euphoria<\/em>, Bloys acknowledged in his Deadline interview that it\u2019ll be \u201ca weird year\u201d for HBO with a pared-down programming lineup post-Hollywood\u2019s strikes<\/a>. As for what\u2019s coming next, there\u2019s the newly-premiered fourth season of True Detective<\/em><\/a>, the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm<\/em><\/a>, and more The Gilded Age<\/em>, of which Bloys said, \u201cI need Gay Twitter to come out and support.\u201d<\/p>\n Carrie Coon<\/strong><\/a> will be pulling double-duty on HBO with both a third season of The Gilded Age<\/em> and her role on The White Lotus<\/em>\u2019s next installment<\/a>. \u201cWhite Lotus<\/em> I\u2019m crazy about. \u201cThey\u2019re getting started in a couple of weeks,\u201d Bloys confirmed, adding that his reaction to the scripts was similar to that of returning cast member Natasha Rothwell<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cI think Natasha Rothwell was saying in an interview that every script she read, she just gasped out loud. I would concur with that,\u201d he said. In a separate recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>, Bloys dispelled rumors that Woody Harrelson<\/strong> would be checking in for season three, only confirming that \u201c[Creator] Mike White has had conversations with a lot of people and Woody was one of them.\u201d While \u201cthere are a couple more roles\u201d yet to be revealed, \u201cWoody is not one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n Another hotly-anticipated series weeks away from production is The Last of Us<\/em> season two<\/a>. Bloys has read five of the scripts, which introduce new cast members played by Kaitlyn Dever<\/strong> and Young Mazino<\/strong><\/a> into the show\u2019s universe. \u201cIt is bigger, gets into questions of retribution and revenge, it follows the video game but has big themes, big action,\u201d he said to Deadline.<\/p>\n In need of yet another show to eagerly await? It won\u2019t be a Succession<\/em> spinoff, Bloys has stated<\/a>, but it could be the oft-discussed Big Little Lies<\/em> season three<\/a>.<\/em> Speaking to Variety<\/em>, the HBO chairman said plans for another installment are in \u201cvery early stages right now.\u201d But when stars and producers Reese Witherspoon<\/strong> and Nicole Kidman<\/strong> \u201cland on an idea,\u201d he continued, \u201cI believe they will make it happen.
