Lil Nas X<\/strong><\/a> is speaking out about the rollout of his new single \u201cJ Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n The 24-year-old entertainer dropped his first song in two years <\/a>last week, with a lot of religious imagery, including the single cover of him on a cross.<\/p>\n He even included a bible quote at the end of the music video, and the rollout of the new single has drawn much criticism.<\/p>\n Lil Nas X<\/strong> took to social media to share a video, explaining himself and the idea behind campaign.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI wanted to not necessarily apologize, but I wanted to explain where my head at and where it\u2019s been for like the last week. So first of all, when I did the artwork, I knew there would be some upset people or whatnot simply cause religion is a very sensitive topic for a lot of people. But I also didn\u2019t mean to mock,\u201d he kicked off his video.<\/p>\n \u201cThis wasn\u2019t like a \u2018f\u2014 you to you people. F\u2014 you to the Christians.\u2019 It was not that. It was literally me saying, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m back. I\u2019m back like Jesus.\u2019 That was the whole thing,\u201d the rapper\/singer continued. \u201cI\u2019m not the first person to dress up as Jesus. I\u2019m not the first rapper. I\u2019m not the first artist, and I won\u2019t be the last. And I know, given my history with the \u2018Montero (Call Me By Your Name)\u2019 video, anything that I do related to religion can be seen as mockery. That just was not the case with this.\u201d<\/p>\n He also apologized for a promo video<\/a> he released where he was eating communion crackers and drinking wine.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s me eating the communion, which is the symbolism of Jesus\u2019 blood and bones or something like that, I don\u2019t remember completely. I didn\u2019t mean it as a cannibalism thing or whatever the freak, but I do apologize for that. I will say I am sorry for that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Lil Nas X<\/strong> noted that the response has taken a toll on him mentally.<\/p>\n \u201cI know I messed up really bad this time, and I can act unbothered all I want, but it\u2019s definitely taken a mental toll on me,\u201d he shared. \u201cI do want my Christian fans to know that I am not against you.
