Teen Mom OG<\/em> <\/a>back in 2021, but he recently returned to the franchise that made him famous.<\/p>\nThe segment was filmed over a month ago \u2014 well before his life fell apart \u2014 but Ryan\u2019s appearance on the most recent Teen Mom reunion special aired earlier this week.<\/p>\n
To the surprise of viewers, Ryan and Maci sat and had a civil conversation about their 14-year-old son, Bentley, and the steps that Edwards can take to be a bigger part of the boy\u2019s life.<\/p>\nMaci opens up about her feelings toward Ryan Edwards. (Photo via MTV)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nRevealing that \u201cit\u2019s been a long time\u201d since they last spoke, Maci said that her relationship with Ryan is \u201ckind of nonexistent\u201d these days.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d just like to be able to, for Maci to be okay with me being able to see him. Hell, I haven\u2019t got to spend any time with him, just me, in a long time,\u201d said a tearful Ryan at one point.<\/p>\n
\u201cHell, I just miss him. There\u2019s a lot of times I wasn\u2019t there just to see him play ball, just putting myself first.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ryan pled for compassion, noting that he might be able to have a better relationship with his son if he didn\u2019t \u201chave to deal with everything else that I\u2019ve had to in the past, just everyone else in the way.\u201d<\/p>\nMaci Bookout us opening up about the relationship between Ryan Edwards and son Bentley. As you might\u2019ve guessed, it\u2019s not good!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cI just looked at him and I could see the pain and honestly I felt like I was staring at Bentley,\u201d Maci responded. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s obviously bittersweet, but I really appreciate the vulnerability and the ownership, where he maybe came up short, what he could have done differently,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything he was committing to, it just felt little by little, a breath of fresh air, because it would absolutely make Bentley\u2019s heart so whole.\u201d<\/p>\nBentley Edwards says he has no relationship with his father. \u201cRyan, there\u2019s a part of Bentley that is hurting, he loves you so much and there is only one person who can help that hurt and it\u2019s you,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe wants a relationship with you more than anything else.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maci was then asked about ways that she might help Ryan improve his relationship with Bentley.<\/p>\n\u201cI think one of them is making sure that I\u2019m keeping Ryan all the way in the loop as it pertains to anything Bentley has going on, so he as the option to support and be there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Maci then acknowledged the elephant in the room, noting that she and Ryan have often had \u201ctrouble communicating with each other respectfully.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI agree, I said some things that were hateful. Yes, I\u2019m sorry for that,\u201d Ryan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI also want to apologize for not putting in more of an effort to understand the battles you were fighting and struggles you were going through,\u201d she chimed in.<\/p>\nMaci Bookout is extremely close with her eldest child, Bentley. And now she\u2019s sharing her thoughts on the boy\u2019s lack of privacy. Had it not been for the events of the past week, the segment would have left us feeling hopeful for Ryan\u2019s relationship with Bentley.<\/p>\n
As it is, however, the conversation is just a sad reminder of what might have been.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
