Sofia Vergara says her public divorce wasn’t ‘that bad’ as she talks ‘moving on’<\/p>\n
The 51-year-old star and her actor husband, 47, announced in July last year that they had separated after seven years of marriage, and Sofia is thankful for how they were treated as two celebrities in the public eye.<\/p>\n
Appearing on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’, the ‘Modern Family’ star said of the “respectful” reporting of their marital split: \u201cYou\u2019re out there [in the public eye] and people know that’s part of being a celebrity.<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew it was gonna happen. You can\u2019t hide those things.”<\/p>\n
However, she added: \u201cIt wasn’t bad. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think, you know, I have to say the press was very respectful and very nice. And I thought that they were gonna invent more things, and you know how it usually is.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI was surprised and, you know, they, they kind of just said what it was and, and that was it.”<\/p>\n
\nSofia, who has since been romancing orthopedic surgeon Dr. Justin Saliman, concluded: \u201cAnd, you know, I’ve been moving on.”<\/p>\n
\nIn an interview in November, the ‘Griselda’ star admitted it had been a “very difficult” time for her. <\/p>\n
\nShe told PEOPLE: “I\u2019ve had a very interesting year. I don\u2019t want to say \u2018bad\u2019 or anything like that, but it\u2019s been very interesting and very difficult.”<\/p>\n
\nSofia – who has 32-year-old son Manolo with first husband Joe Gonzalez – and Joe announced their divorce in a joint statement, explaining that they still “love and care for one another very much”.<\/p>\n
\nThey said: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce.<\/p>\n
\n“As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
