It didn\u2019t take long for the scheming to start when season 2 of The Traitors<\/em><\/a> premiered on Peacock Friday, January 12.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was excited to see all the gamers,\u201d Big Brother<\/em>\u2018s Janelle Pierzina<\/strong> told Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cI love games on strategy. I love games that are thinking. So, immediately, I was very drawn to Parvati and Dan, of course.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cgamers\u201d on season 2 are Janelle and fellow Big Brother<\/em> winner Dan Gheesling<\/strong>, Survivor\u2019<\/em>s Parvati Shallow<\/strong> and Sandra Diaz-Twine<\/strong>, The Challenge\u2019<\/em>s Chris \u201cCT\u201d Tamburello, Johnny \u201cBananas\u201d Devenanzio <\/strong>and Trishelle Cannatella.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then I saw the Bravo people, and MJ was so nice,\u201d Janelle continued, referring to Shahs of Sunset<\/em>\u2018s Mercedes \u201cMJ\u201d Javid.<\/strong> \u201cThere was really no one in the cast that I could say, \u2018Oh yeah, I really wouldn\u2019t work with you.\u2019 I would work with anyone that would just be dumb not to. It\u2019s a game about keeping yourself alive in that castle.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 21-person cast list spanned from former Bachelor Peter Weber<\/strong><\/a> and Housewives<\/em> stars Larsa Pippin, Tamra Judge, Shere\u00e9 Whitfield <\/strong>and Phaedra <\/strong>Parks to UK Parliament\u2019s John Bercow <\/strong>and boxer Deontay Wilder.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMy strategy, though, was to identify the traitors and work with them as long as I could to potentially either get recruited or if it came down to it, get enough people together to go after them,\u201d Janelle explained. \u201cBut I definitely didn\u2019t want to get real traitors right away because it just seemed kind of, like, dumb gameplay. Why would we get rid of someone day one or two that was actually a traitor? They\u2019re just going to recruit \u2014 [and] what if they don\u2019t recruit me? They could recruit a really good faithful that I\u2019m working with.\u201d<\/p>\n

While some stars wanted the opportunity to \u201cmurder\u201d their fellow castle guests, MJ was happy she didn\u2019t get tapped.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew that if I were a traitor, I would not be able to keep a straight face for even, like, a second,\u201d MJ told Us<\/em> about the roundtable selection. \u201cI am one of those nervous laughers. I would just [have] no game face There would be no way. Even that moment when we take our blindfolds off was so intense.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

John\u2019s Breathing<\/h3>\n

Speaking of selection, the politician quickly came under fire when Janelle called out his heavy breathing when host Alan Cummings<\/strong> was walking around the roundtable picking the traitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was almost certainly a mistake because you should probably be inscrutable [and] give nothing away. So it was probably a mistake because it led for a short period \u2026 [of] this suspicion. \u2018This is odd, this is fishy, this is inexplicable, this is possibly a sign in the absence of any other evidence that this guy\u2019s a traitor.\u2019 All it was to be honest, was this: I passionately wanted to be a faithful. I\u2019ve made it clear in advance that I wanted and hoped [but] I had no guarantee to be a faithful,\u201d John told Us<\/em>. \u201cAlan walked round that room so many times in the blindfolded ceremony that it was quite, sort of stressful. And when it was over, I breathed heavily and I think I do often breathe heavily and through my mouth \u2014 and I was asked by Janelle, \u2018Well, what\u2019s going on?\u2019 And I said, \u2018Well, I\u2019ve been asthmatic. And then there was an issue, \u2018Well, do you use an inhaler? No. Are you asthmatic now?\u2019 And I said, \u2018No, look, historically I was asthmatic. I don\u2019t breathe very well, but frankly you are putting two and two together and making five.\u2019 So it was a crass miscalculation of people thought I made me a traitor, but did I make a mistake to do that? Yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n

Larsa Takes a Shot at Parvati<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s not a surprise to Real Housewives of Miami<\/em> viewers that Larsa wouldn\u2019t waste time sharing her opinions during the same selection ceremony. So when she was convinced Cummings tapped Parvati on the shoulder based on an alleged noise coming from his jacket, she spoke up.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy initial plan was to stay under the radar and not necessarily make too much noise, but I couldn\u2019t help it. Her energy was just giving me to the left, to the left,\u201d Larsa told Us<\/em> of Parvati. Bananas subsequently chimed in, \u201cYou and me both.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sandra and Parvati\u2019s Truce<\/h3>\n

After publicly arguing over who the true \u201cqueen of Survivor<\/em>\u201d is<\/a> just last year, the two winners of the CBS show shocked viewers by letting RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race<\/em> star Peppermint<\/strong> help them make amends during the premiere.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy stomach dropped and Sandra comes out of the cart with her finger in my face like this, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh God. \u2026 We got to stop meeting like this, girl,’\u201d Parvati told Us<\/em>. \u201cBecause we needed each other out there. I mean, I didn\u2019t really know anybody besides Sandra. So we had to find a way to work together and not be at odds. And I\u2019m so grateful that Peppermint took it upon her beautiful self to bring us together, help us shake hands and bury the hatchet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sandra noted it was a quick turnaround. \u201cI was like, \u2018Oh no, not only now do I have to navigate this game, but now I have to deal with Parvati as well?\u2019 But thanks to Peppermint, we chatted about it briefly, I don\u2019t even think it was five minutes and I was ready to move on and we agreed to move on,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd when I agreed to something, that\u2019s it. So I was just hoping that me being honest about moving on was also the same with Parvati. People tell you different things, but I was happy that Peppermint put us together and we were able to bury the hatchet. And hey it\u2019s all great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phaedra and Dan\u2019s Plans as Traitors<\/h3>\n

During episode 1, viewers learn that Phaedra and Dan were selected as the traitors. \u201cIn my world, we fight, we drink Champagne, we glamorous \u2013 this world is all about strategy,\u201d Phaedra told Us<\/em>, noting part of her plan was to \u201clean into\u201d working with Dan because she knew he won Big Brother<\/em>. \u201cI had no idea. I only knew the Bravolebrities. And so of course, being a Bravolebrity, I was going to lightweight protect all my Bravo family.\u201d<\/p>\n

That included former Real Housewives of Atlanta<\/em> costar Shere\u00e9. \u201cWe know she can be a little mischievous. I mean, she\u2019s a good liar sometimes,\u201d Shere\u00e9 told Us<\/em> of Phaedra, to which Tamra agreed. \u201cI think that it\u2019s in our nature being Housewives to be traitors in our core being. That\u2019s what we do for a living. And the girls that were on were the ones that have been on for a long time, so I didn\u2019t trust any of \u2019em.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phaedra, for her part, added that she wanted to be an \u201cangel traitor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course that is the position that works the hardest because everyone else is sleeping [and] you\u2019re killing the people. But I wanted to make sure I did it justice,\u201d Phaedra told Us<\/em>. \u201cMy perspective was very different, probably from some of the other traitors because I am always going for the underdog. However, I sort of came in at a disadvantage because I didn\u2019t know any of the gamers. \u2026 I used my personal conversations with people to sort determine who I really wanted to protect or really wanted to play this game with.\u201d<\/p>\n
