Jelly Roll<\/strong><\/a> is preparing to embark on the next major step in his weight loss journey<\/a>, as he announced he is training to run a 5K race in the spring.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah baby, this message is for Bert Kreischer<\/strong> and Tom Segura<\/strong>,\u201d the rapper, 39, said in a Wednesday, January 10, Instagram Video. \u201cI was on the Full Send Podcast this week, and Kyle from the Nelk boys convinced me that I could make it to the 5K by May if I dedicated myself to it.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cWild Ones\u201d singer, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord<\/strong>, continued, \u201cI believe him, I believe in myself. Bert, I love you bubba, Tom, I don\u2019t know you but I love you too and can\u2019t wait to meet you. I\u2019ll be there baby, I\u2019m in the woods walking every morning.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201c5K by May baby, 5K by May. I mean it Bert! I mean it Bert!\u201d he concluded his enthusiastic message.<\/p>\n The \u201cNeed a Favor\u201d performer captioned his video with, \u201cSomebody let [Bert and Tom] know I\u2019m in for the 5K in May. Kyle Forgeard<\/strong> gassed me up. I\u2019m ready to go. Anyone wanna join me?\u201d<\/p>\n Jelly Roll\u2019s decision to run a 5K, a long-distance road running competition over a distance of \u200b3.1 miles, comes amid his years-long weight loss journey. The CMA winner, who weighed more than 500 pounds in 2015, has already lost more than 200 pounds in recent years.<\/p>\n Although his weight loss hasn\u2019t been linear, with plenty of ups and downs, The \u201cSave Me\u201d singer told FOX News Digital<\/em> in November 2023 he shed \u201cabout 45-50\u201d pounds while on his Backroad Baptism tour last year.<\/p>\n Reflecting on his health, Jelly Roll told the outlet he didn\u2019t have any particular goals in mind. \u201cI just want to keep doing the right thing and feeling better,\u201d he continued at the time, adding that he was \u201cstarting to find a will to live\u201d and wants to \u201clean into that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI just want to be happier,\u201d he continued. \u201cWeight is normally directly related to mental health, so I\u2019m trying to get that under control and the rest is following that.\u201d<\/p>\n This is the second year in a row Jelly Roll has resolved to focus on his health in the new year, with the rapper saying during a December 2022 interview with Music Mayhem<\/em> he planned to focus on \u201cfamily and health\u201d in 2023.<\/p>\n In February, Jelly Roll updated fans on his progress via X (formerly known as Twitter). \u201cJust know that I\u2019m doing my part \u2014 I\u2019m working out daily\u2026 praying and meditating \u2026.
