The \u201cNike\u201d remark refers to one of the most infamous examples of the Duggars\u2019 strange brand of puritanism:<\/p>\n
When the family was out in public, and they encountered an \u201cimmodestly\u201d dressed woman, the parents would use the command \u201cNike!\u201d to indicate that it was time for the children to look at their shoes.<\/p>\n
With an upbringing like that, it\u2019s no wonder that John David hasn\u2019t been in any rush to defend his parents amid the year\u2019s scandals.<\/p>\n
