The \u2018Saltburn\u2019 actor, 66, was left devastated when his dialect coach partner Joan Washington passed away aged 75 from lung cancer in September 2021.<\/p>\n
Richard, who married her in 1986 and with whom he had two children, said in a New Year message to his fans on his Instagram: \u201cThank you to all my friends and followers on social media for the incredible support and love I\u2019ve felt, especially over the last two years, and I\u2019ve been buoyed up and hovercrafted by your support and feedback.<\/p>\n
\u201cWishing you \u2013 to every one of you \u2013 the finest health for 2024, and all good things to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Richard was wearing a white polo neck jumper in his Instagram video, which ended with him grinning as he said: \u201cYeah, baby \u2013 up, up and away.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHis clip also ended with a clip of lights and a lakeside scene, and was captioned: \u201cHAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Pockets filled with Happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nRichard\u2019s message comes months after he vented his frustration over former friends abandoning him after Joan\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
\nHe said in a conversation at The Times and Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival in October: \u201cSubsequent to her death, I have had people cross the road rather than talk.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhether they think you\u2019re going to fall apart and you\u2019re an emotional wreck, I don\u2019t know. But I will never speak to them again.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe went on to recall an occasion during which a couple who\u2019d lived near to his and Joan\u2019s holiday home in France ignored him when he waved, saying: \u201cAs I walked towards them they both turned their heads.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI thought, \u2018(F\u2013 you.)\u2019 I felt I was being punished because Joan had died. They had never acknowledged it. Maybe they didn\u2019t know how to deal with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
