Oppo\u2019s latest flagship, the Find X7 Ultra, is the first smartphone to include two periscope cameras, the company announced today as it launched the device in China. One offers a 3x zoom and uses a 1\/1.56-inch sensor that Oppo says is \u201cthe biggest telephoto sensor in any smartphone.\u201d Large sensors typically make for better low-light photographs, which can be an issue for some phones\u2019 secondary cameras. The second periscope lens offers a 6x optical zoom with a 1\/2.51-inch sensor. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The zoom lenses make up two of the four 50-megapixel cameras Oppo has built into the rear of the phone. These also include a main camera that\u2019s the first in the market to use Sony\u2019s second-generation 1-inch-type sensor (the LYT-900), alongside an ultrawide camera (sensor size: 1\/1.95-inch). On the software side, the four sensors are powered by Oppo\u2019s new HyperTone Image Engine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Elsewhere the Find X7 Ultra carries typical flagship smartphone specs. It\u2019s powered by Qualcomm\u2019s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, with a 5,000mAh battery that can be fast-charged at up to 100W wired or 50W wirelessly. Its 6.82-inch screen is 1440p, with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz and peak brightness of up to 4500 nits when viewing HDR content.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Unfortunately, the phone looks likely to remain exclusive to the Chinese market, with no release planned for Europe or the US \u2014 just like last year\u2019s Find X6 Pro<\/a>. In China, prices start at \u00a55,999 (around $845) for a model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, going up to \u00a56,999 (around $990) for the top-end model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
