\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Bette Midler<\/strong><\/a> is looking back at her career.<\/p>\n In a new interview, the 77-year-old Golden Globe and Tony award winner revealed the one role that she passed on that she now regrets.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n While appearing on the Just for Variety<\/em> podcast<\/a>, Bette<\/strong> revealed she turned down the leading role in 1992\u2032s Sister Act<\/em>, which ended up going to Whoopi Goldberg<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThey came to me with Sister Act<\/em> and I said, \u2018My fans don\u2019t want to see me in a wimple,\u201d Bette<\/strong> recalled. \u201cCan you believe that? How off the wall is that? How crazy is that? [Disney chairman] Jeffrey Katzenberg called me every day, \u2018Please, please.\u2019 I stood my ground because I really was afraid of the costume. Isn\u2019t that amazing? I can wear anything but a nun\u2019s habit?\u201d<\/p>\n Bette<\/strong> added, \u201cWhoopi wore it all the way to the bank. So God bless her. And she was perfect for it.\u201d<\/p>\n Bette<\/strong> also revealed that she was offered Kathy Bates<\/strong><\/a>\u2018 role in 1990\u2032s Misery<\/em>, but she doesn\u2019t regret passing on that role.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then there was Misery<\/em>. I just couldn\u2019t. It was too violent,\u201d Bette<\/strong> explained. \u201cThe character was so not funny, so without any qualities of redemption. She cut off his foot. Come on.
