You know that childhood fear that all the cool kids from your class won\u2019t come to your birthday party? Now, imagine the people throwing your party told everyone the cool kids were coming, but they weren’t\u2014any they publicly laughed in your face. Now you know how conspiracy theorist and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.<\/strong> feels.<\/p>\n Kennedy, who just added vocal vaccination denier<\/a> Del Bigtree<\/strong> to his campaign, turns 70 on January 17. American Values 2024<\/a>, a Kennedy-backing super PAC with a name easily confused with the Facebook password used by your great replacement-pushing Aunt Karen, decided to leverage this landmark event with a fundraising event featuring\u2014per a tweet<\/a> from the super PAC\u2014a performance from famed tenor Andrea Bocelli,<\/strong> and \u201cwell-wisher guests\u201d including Martin Sheen, Mike Tyson<\/strong>, and Dionne Warwick<\/strong>.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a guest list fit for a joke that begins, \u201cThe West Wing<\/em> president, a convicted rapist<\/a> and alleged domestic abuser<\/a>, and the only good person left on X (formerly Twitter) walk into a bar\u2026\u201d And a joke might be the best way to characterize it, as all four of these folks say they have no plan to attend the (per the Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>)<\/em> \u201cmulti-million dollar fundraiser\u201d on January 22 at the California desert town of Indian Wells.<\/p>\n Warwick first responded to the announcement with confusion and dismay, tweeting, \u201c<\/a>I don\u2019t know anything about this event.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI did not agree to it and I certainly won\u2019t be there,\u201d the \u201cWalk on By\u201d singer wrote.<\/p>\n Speaking with Page Six<\/em><\/a>, Warwick also noted, \u201cNo, I\u2019m not backing him. No, no, and no!\u201d<\/p>\n A Bocelli representative also expressed confusion, telling Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> that the claims were false, and that \u201che will not even be in the U.S. this month.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n As for Sheen, an actor and activist who\u2019s been arrested at least 66 times<\/a> for his participation in civil actions and protests, made his denial in a since-expired Instagram story that\u2019s been shared across social media.<\/a> \u201cI do not endorse RFK Jr., nor will I be attending his party,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n Get Out<\/em> villain Bradley Whitford<\/strong>, who on The West Wing<\/em> played Sheen\u2019s deputy chief of staff, tweeted in support<\/a> of his former colleague. \u201cThere\u2019s a story going around saying g that Martin Sheen is supporting @RobertKennedyJr for president. The story is incorrect,\u201d Whitford wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cMartin asked us to post this on his behalf. \u2018I wholeheartedly support President Joe Biden and the democratic ticket in 2024. Sincerely, Martin Sheen.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Then there\u2019s Tyson, who was convicted of rape in 1992<\/a> (but has steadfastly declared his innocence), was accused of<\/a> raping another woman last year, and joked about<\/a> the domestic violence allegations against him with Oprah Winfrey<\/strong> in 2009. He also appears to consider the RFK Jr. event beneath him, which is perhaps the knockout punch.\u00a0<\/p>\n A representative for the former boxer told Page Six<\/em> that \u201cMr. Tyson was invited to RFK\u2019s bday celebration, which he cannot attend, not a fundraiser,\u201d and that he won\u2019t be going to the party.<\/p>\n American Values 2024 has yet to respond to a request for comment from Vanity Fair, but the Kennedy campaign said in a statement that all these shenanigans are not its fault.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe campaign doesn\u2019t have anything to do with the organization of this event,\u201d it wrote. \u201cThe campaign has no knowledge of who is attending and can\u2019t confirm or deny anyone\u2019s participation, either as entertainment or as a guest.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
