Kelly Clarkson\u2018s kids won\u2019t be allowed to \u201cever have\u201d social media while they\u2019re living with her. “I have informed them they\u2019re not allowed to, under my roof, ever have it.”<\/i><\/p>\nShe argues that being on platforms like X, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok \u201ccan be really hard on kids in general but especially kids with parents in the public eye.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
\u201cMy daughter was like, \u2018Well, what if Dad lets me?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, you\u2019re there four days a month. Enjoy that.\u2019 And right now he\u2019s not letting them do it either,\u201d<\/i> Clarkson said. \u201cI\u2019ll listen when they\u2019re older, but until they have a solid argument, it\u2019s a no.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
She’s not the only star who’s keeping her kids off social media. Jennifer Garner said the same thing last spring. <\/p>\n
\u201cI just said to my kids, \u2018Show me the articles that prove that social media is good for teenagers, and then we\u2019ll have the conversation,’\u201d<\/i> Garner said. \u201cFind scientific evidence that matches what I have that says that it\u2019s not good for teenagers, then we\u2019ll chat.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
As for how her kids feel about this, Garner said, \u201cMy eldest is grateful. It\u2019s a long haul. I have a couple more to go, so just knock on wood. We\u2019ll see if I really hang in there.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
Matthew McConaughey similarly opened up about being concerned about giving his son, Levi, access to social media. McConaughey and his wife announced that he was able to join Instagram on his 15th birthday over the summer.
