Steve Burton<\/strong><\/a> confirmed his exit from Days of Our Lives<\/em><\/a>\u00a0one year after reprising his role.<\/p>\n

\u201cWow! Well, I just shot my final scenes here on Days of Our Lives<\/em> and I just want to say, thank you so much to the cast [and] to the crew. It\u2019s been amazing,\u201d Burton, 53, said in a video uploaded to the Daily Drama<\/a>\u2019s YouTube<\/a> page on Wednesday, January 3. \u201cI can\u2019t believe it\u2019s been a year already! So, thank you so much to the fans. It\u2019s just \u2026 I\u2019m always so full of gratitude. So thank you. Stay tuned.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burton made his debut on Days<\/em> in 1988 as Harris Micheals and exited the series later that year. Following his time on the soap opera , the actor went on to star in other daytime shows including The Young and the Restless<\/em> and General Hospital<\/em><\/a>, where he earned several Daytime Emmy awards.<\/p>\n

Burton starred on General Hospital<\/em> from 1991\u20132012 and from 2017\u20132021. In November 2021, the actor revealed he was let go from the ABC soap after he did not comply with the studio\u2019s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSteve Burton and Sheree Burton were married for 23 years before he announced their separation \u2014 and claimed his spouse was pregnant with another man\u2019s child. Steve became famous for playing Jason Morgan on General Hospital, making his series debut in 1991. Eight years later, he married Sheree, who worked behind the scenes on the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI did apply for my medical and religious exemptions and both of those were denied, which, you know, hurts,\u201d he explained in an Instagram video<\/a> at the time. \u201cBut this is also about personal freedom to me. I don\u2019t think anybody should lose their livelihood over this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shortly after his exit from General Hospital<\/em>, Burton reprised his role of Harris Michaels in the Days<\/em> spinoff, Beyond Salem<\/em>, in 2022. The following year, he signed a one-year deal to return to Days<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019re in the business 36 years and people are still calling? I\u2019m super grateful,\u201d Burton said to Soap Opera Digest<\/em><\/a> in 2023. \u201c[Days is] a great environment to work in, and I feel like I\u2019m getting a real run at things.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to his TV career, Steve has also made headlines for his personal life over the years. Steve filed for divorce<\/a> from ex-wife Sheree Burton<\/strong>, who was pregnant at the time, in 2022, claiming he was not the child\u2019s father<\/a>. (The exes share three children: Mackena, 20, Jack, 17 and Brooklyn, 9.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to clear something up. Sheree and I are separated,\u201d he wrote via his Instagram Story at the time. \u201cShe recently announced that she\u2019s expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine.\u201d<\/p>\n
