Like mother, like daughter! Kate Winslet<\/strong><\/a> and her daughter, Mia Threapleton<\/strong><\/a>, will appear on screen together in the upcoming Channel 4 anthology series I Am Ruth<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In the feature-length episode \u2014 the series\u2019 season 3 debut \u2014 Winslet, 47, plays Ruth, a mother who is concerned about her daughter Freya\u2019s excessive social media use. \u201cYou can do whatever you want, sweetheart. You are not judged, you are not criticized,\u201d the Titanic<\/em> star tells Freya \u2014 played by her real-life daughter, 22 \u2014 in a trailer for I Am Ruth<\/em><\/a>. \u201cWell I am though, am I not?\u201d Threapleton\u2019s character replies.<\/p>\n

Later in the teaser, Freya grows upset after her phone gets taken away<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s what\u2019s making you ill, sweetheart,\u201d her mother tells her gently.<\/p>\n

Winslet worked with the I Am\u2026<\/em> anthology series creator, Dominic Savage<\/strong><\/a>, to develop the feature-length drama. The Mare of Eastttown<\/em> alum has been outspoken about her distaste for social media in the past.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the Sunday Times<\/em><\/a> in November 2015, the England native said of photo-sharing platforms: \u201cIt has a huge impact on young women\u2019s self-esteem, because all they ever do is design themselves for people to like them. And what comes along with that? Eating disorders<\/a>. And that makes my blood boil and is the reason we don\u2019t have any social media in our house.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Steve Jobs<\/em> actress continued: \u201cLet your kids climb trees. Take the device out of their hand<\/a>. Play Monopoly! You go to a cafe and grown-ups are at one end of the table and children the other, on devices, not looking up.\u201d<\/p>\n

During a July 2015 appearance on Running Wild With Bear Grylls<\/em>, Winslet opened up about wanting her daughter to feel good in her own skin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I grew up, I never heard positive reinforcement about body image from any female in my life. I only heard negatives. That\u2019s very damaging because then you\u2019re programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinize yourself<\/a> and how you look,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind<\/em> actress then revealed one method she used to help Threapleton cultivate self-love.<\/p>\n
