Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a> and Anderson Cooper<\/strong><\/a> had something to celebrate while cohosting CNN\u2019s New Year\u2019s Eve Live<\/em> special \u2014 toasting to the end of the previous year\u2019s alcohol ban.<\/p>\n

The dynamic duo returned to New York City\u2019s Times Square on Sunday, December 31, to countdown to the new year. At the top of the broadcast, Cohen, 55, revealed that he and Cooper, 56, would once again be imbibing throughout the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpeaking of traditions,\u201d he began, \u201cIt\u2019s the top of the hour and so we\u2019ve been here for seven years doing this and for most of those years \u2026 at the top of the hour, we typically have a toast.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Cooper reluctantly asked whether Cohen was alluding to alcohol, the latter replied, \u201cI guess I\u2019m just wondering, does daddy get his juice?\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooper quickly retorted, \u201cCan daddy get his juice responsibly?\u201d before confessing that he didn\u2019t bring anything to drink. Cohen, however, came prepared with his own bottle of tequila. \u201cThis is why I\u2019m a really good partner to you,\u201d he teased. \u201cI got it. We\u2019re doing this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cohen reminded viewers that Cooper doesn\u2019t often drink outside of the NYE special, but fans think that\u2019s exactly what makes it so fun. \u201cA giggly \/ tipsy Anderson Cooper is how every year needs to end,\u201d one social media user tweeted on Sunday, while another added, \u201cAndy Cohen and Anderson Cooper wasted beyond belief on national television is the only New Year\u2019s chaos I believe in.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third fan joked, \u201cI love that we, as a community, bullied cnn into letting anderson cooper and andy cohen drink on tv,\u201d while celebrating the return of the twosome\u2019s traditional shot-taking.<\/p>\n

The pair were barred from drinking during the 2022-2023 broadcast after the Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen<\/em> host made some controversial comments<\/a> on air the year before while inebriated.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you look behind me, you\u2019ll see Ryan Seacrest<\/strong>\u2019s group of losers<\/a> performing. \u2026 I\u2019m sorry but if you\u2019re watching ABC, you\u2019re watching nothing,\u201d Cohen said during the 2021-2022 special, referring to Dick Clark\u2019s New Year\u2019s Rockin\u2019 Eve With Ryan Seacrest<\/em>. \u201cWe were doused with confetti from fake Journey on ABC. If it\u2019s not Steve Perry<\/strong>, it doesn\u2019t count! You get it? It\u2019s not Journey! It\u2019s propaganda! It\u2019s propaganda! It\u2019s not Journey! It\u2019s not Journey! No, that was not Journey. Steve Perry is Journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the ordeal, Cohen expressed remorse for his statements about Seacrest, 49. \u201cThe only thing that I regret saying, the only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast and I really like Ryan Seacrest and he\u2019s a great guy,\u201d he noted on SiriusXM\u2019s Andy Cohen Live<\/em> in January 2022. \u201cAnd I really regret saying that, and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two later put rumors of a feud to rest<\/a> when Cohen called into \u201cOn Air With Ryan Seacrest\u201d in January. \u201cI don\u2019t like fighting with people,\u201d Cohen said, to which Seacrest replied, \u201cWell, we\u2019re not [fighting]. We\u2019re not.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amid the drama, CNN set a mandate for the 2022-2023 broadcast that Cohen and Cooper refrain from drinking. \u201cWe can\u2019t drink, alright! We can\u2019t drink,\u201d Cohen said during the special. \u201cBut it\u2019s fine. It\u2019s totally cool.\u201d<\/p>\n
