Dame Judi Dench still fears getting fired<\/p>\n
The 88-year-old actress has had a successful career for decades but still has moments of self-doubt and insisted she never takes any of her jobs for granted.<\/p>\n
Asked if she\u2019s ever suffered from self-doubt, she told Good Housekeeping magazine: \u201cYes of course there have been moments.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhenever I arrive for rehearsals, I have to leave my bag nearest to the door so I can make a quick getaway in case they sack me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think that fear of losing a job should ever leave any of us.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cNot when there are so many hundreds of people just behind you.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI never take a part for granted \u2013 and I never will.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe \u2018Quantum of Solace\u2019 star believes it is important to always look for the pluses in life and can find small pleasures in everyday things.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cThat came from a great friend and it\u2019s become my kind of mantra.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cSometimes in life, you think all the minuses are stored up against you, but there are always pluses to be found if you look hard enough for them.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cFor me, it\u2019s the fact that [my daughter] Finty is happy and enjoying her work, it\u2019s seeing my grandson do wonderful things and it\u2019s having great friends who I can laugh with and talk to about absolutely anything.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAll of those things are absolutely vital to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJudi is very close to her 26-year-old grandson Sam and he calls her every day to make her laugh.<\/p>\n
\nAsked if it\u2019s true he describes her as the most childish person he knows, she said: \u201cYes \u2013 I\u2019m quite shocked that he said it but it\u2019s probably quite true.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe rings me up and tells me a joke each day, which is extremely nice.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
