Gary Oldman<\/strong><\/a> isn\u2019t impressed with how he portrayed Sirius Black in the Harry Potter<\/em><\/a> franchise.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Harry Potter<\/em>] is the most frequent. If [a fan] asks me to sign a picture then that\u2019s the one that comes up the most,\u201d Oldman, 65, said during a live episode of the \u201cHappy Sad Confused<\/a>\u201d podcast released on Thursday, December 28. \u201cI think my work is mediocre in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Host Josh Horowitz<\/strong> and the live audience were flabbergasted by Oldman\u2019s revelation. While the actor appreciated the crowd\u2019s support, he wished he took a cue from his late costar Alan Rickman at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe if I had read the books like Alan, if I had got ahead of the curve, if I had known what\u2019s coming, I honestly think I would have played it differently,\u201d he reflected.<\/p>\n

Rowling, stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint captured the hearts of viewers between 2001 and 2011. The eight movies raked in [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Oldman played fan favorite Sirius Black, godfather to Harry Potter, in the franchise from 2004 to 2011. He made his first appearance in the third film of the series, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban<\/em>. In the 2007 film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix<\/em>, Sirius tragically dies in the final battle with his cousin Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\u201cThey killed me off too early. I\u2019m still upset about that,\u201d he quipped on Thursday. \u201cWe were all taking bets [on who it would be] \u2018It\u2019s Hagrid\u2019 and I was there going, \u2018No no no, it\u2019s going to be maybe Ron.\u2019 Then you open up the script and you go, \u2018It\u2019s me, I\u2019m out of here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite meeting his doom in the fifth movie, Oldman returned for a brief cameo in the final Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows \u2013 Part 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n

While Oldman has a lot of love for what Harry Potter<\/em> has done for his career, he also shared that he doesn\u2019t feel like it was this singular performance he would redo if he had the chance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I sat and watched myself in something and said, \u2018My God, I\u2019m amazing,\u2019 that would be a very sad day because you want to make the next thing better,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt\u2019s so subjective, it\u2019s such a personal thing that you\u2019re looking at that other people are not seeing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Oldman shared that he was grateful for his roles in the Harry Potter<\/em> films and the Batman movies as they helped him find stability and a job close to home while he was a single father.<\/p>\n
