In his new memoir, <em>Reality Check<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeandstylemag.com\/tags\/mike-sorrentino-40504\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Mike \u201cThe Situation\u201d Sorrentino<\/strong><\/a> opens up about his years-long addiction to painkillers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt had all begun by taking a pill here or there just to feel good and experiment,\u201d writes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeandstylemag.com\/tags\/jersey-shore-15597\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Jersey Shore<\/em><\/a> star, 41. \u201cBut eventually the dream turned into a nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mike brought 500 Percocets with him to film \u200bseason 2, and when they ran out, he found an unlikely supplier: a tanning salon owner. \u201cAfter I finished tanning, I would place his cash under the towel and go about my job with a fresh stash of pills hidden in my boxers,\u201d Mike says.<\/p>\n<p>His addiction soon became evident not only to production but also to <strong>Jenni \u201cJWoww\u201d Farley<\/strong>, who confronted her costar on camera about his pill problem. (\u201cMTV depicted our fight in such a way that the audience couldn\u2019t tell what we were fighting about,\u201d he notes.)<\/p>\n<p>Mike even brought painkillers to film \u200bseason 4 in Italy \u2014 he was in withdrawal when he headbutted the concrete wall \u2014 and had a drug dealer mail him Percocets while he shot <em>Dancing With the Stars<\/em>. All in all, Mike estimates he spent about $500,000 on drugs before finally getting clean in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my younger years, I didn\u2019t know how to control those demons, and too often I lost the battles,\u201d he writes. \u201cBut in the past eight years of sobriety, the tides have turned.
