The FBI and local Colorado law enforcement are investigating<\/a> threats made against the four<\/strong> Colorado justices who voted<\/a> to keep former President Donald Trump<\/strong> off the state\u2019s ballot in the 2024 primary election.<\/p>\n FBI Public Affairs Officer Vikki Migoya<\/strong> told<\/a> CNN Monday that the bureau is \u201caware of the situation\u201d and \u201cwill vigorously pursue investigations of any threat or use of violence committed by someone who uses extremist views to justify their actions regardless of motivation.\u201d<\/p>\n The Colorado State Supreme Court ruled last week that for his actions on January 6, 2021, the GOP frontrunner violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which prohibits individuals who have \u201cengaged in insurrection or rebellion\u201d from pursuing public office.<\/p>\n Just a day after the decision came down on December 19, a report from Advance Democracy, a nonpartisan, nonprofit research organization, found an increase in \u201csignificant violent rhetoric\u201d targeting the justices online. Often, the violent posts came directly in response to statements from the former president on his social media site, Truth Social. Sometimes, the posts included email addresses, phone numbers, office addresses for the judges, and potential execution methods.<\/p>\n One post from a user on a fringe, pro-Trump website read that \u201call f\u2014 robed rats must f\u2014 hang,\u201d appearing to reference the justices. Another said to \u201cbehead judges\u201d and \u201cslam dunk a judge\u2019s baby into the trash can.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe are seeing significant violent language and threats being made against the Colorado justices and others perceived to be behind yesterday\u2019s Colorado Supreme Court ruling,\u201d the group\u2019s president, Daniel Jones<\/strong>, told<\/a> NBC. \u201cThe normalization of this type of violent rhetoric \u2014 and lack of remedial action by social media entities \u2014 is cause for significant concern.\u201d Jones added that Trump\u2019s own statements were \u201ca key driver of the violent rhetoric.\u201d<\/p>\n Last Thursday, the Denver Police Department responded to \u201cwhat appears to be a hoax report\u201d targeting one of the justice\u2019s homes. The department reported that \u201ceverything checked clear, and we are continuing to investigate this report.\u201d A spokesman told<\/a> Axios Monday that DPD officers are \u201cproviding extra patrols around justice\u2019s residences.\u201d<\/p>\n The developments in Colorado are just the latest in a pattern of threats and harassment directed at judges, prosecutors, and other court employees involved in the various criminal cases against Trump.
