Google\u2019s Safety Check feature for Chrome, which, among other things, checks the internet to see if any of your saved passwords have been compromised, will now \u201crun automatically in the background\u201d on desktop, the company said in a blog post on Thursday<\/a>. The constant checks could mean that you\u2019re alerted about a password that you should change sooner than you would have before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Safety Check also watches for bad extensions<\/a> or site permissions you need to look at, and you can act on Safety Check alerts from Chrome\u2019s three-dot menu. In addition, Google says that Safety Check can revoke<\/em> a site\u2019s permissions if you haven\u2019t visited it in a while.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Google also announced an upcoming feature for Chrome\u2019s tab groups, also on desktop: Chrome will let you save tab groups so that you can use those groups across devices, which might be handy when moving between a PC at home and a laptop when traveling. Google says this feature will roll out \u201cover the next few weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The company also teased that it will bring features powered by Gemini, its new AI model, to Chrome \u201cearly next year.\u201d That\u2019s not a surprise \u2014 CEO Sundar Pichai had already said<\/a> Gemini would make its way to Chrome \u2014 but I\u2019m curious to see what it means in practice all the same.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
