Janel Parrish<\/strong><\/a> successfully hid her identity from the panelists throughout season 10 of The Masked Singer<\/em><\/a>, but there was one group who couldn\u2019t be fooled: Pretty Little Liars<\/em><\/a> fans.<\/p>\n

Parrish, 35, who played Mona on the Freeform teen drama, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> that PLL<\/em> viewers quickly suspected she was behind the Gazelle mask after digging up old clips of Mona singing on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw a hilarious comment from one of the PLL<\/em> fans,\u201d she recalled ahead of the Wednesday, December 20, season finale. \u201cThey were like, \u2018You can\u2019t hide, Mona, we know it\u2019s you!\u2019 I was like, \u2018Oh, wow.\u2019 Those PLL<\/em> fans, they\u2019re little sleuths! They know what\u2019s up. \u2026 There\u2019s a whole network of PLL<\/em> fans who were like, \u2018We know it\u2019s you, Mona!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

One of Gazelle\u2019s clue packages included a test paper with an A-minus on it, leading savvy viewers to suspect that Parrish was behind the mask. (Mona was the original A on PLL<\/em>, which ran from 2010 to 2017.)<\/p>\n

Parrish\u2019s family, however, didn\u2019t need the clues to figure out it was her. Contestants on The Masked Singer<\/em> are sworn to utmost secrecy about their participation in the show, but no amount of denial could convince Parrish\u2019s aunt that she wasn\u2019t Gazelle.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe said she thought that it was my voice, but then when she saw my mannerisms, even as Gazelle with the filter on my voice, she knew that it was me just from my body mannerisms,\u201d Parrish told Us<\/em>. \u201cI did a lot of lying \u2014 apparently some bad lying to some family members who were like, \u2018I know you\u2019re lying, but it\u2019s fine, you probably can\u2019t tell me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy first job ever was as Little Cosette on Broadway<\/a> in Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/em>,\u201d she told Us<\/em>. \u201cI thought that my career would become theater because I was a kid and I thought that\u2019s where the course of my life was going to take me, and as fate had it, it led more toward TV and film, and as that happened, I did less and less singing. So, it sort of became a little bit of a fear and a vulnerability. Like, \u2018I was a kid singer \u2014 am I still a singer?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

After making it to the season finale alongside musical heavyweights Ne-Yo<\/strong> and Macy Gray<\/strong>, Parrish can rest assured that she\u2019s still got it. (She was the only contestant to be saved this season by the \u201cding dong keep it on\u201d bell, meaning her performance so impressed the judges that they didn\u2019t want her to go home the night she was originally set to be eliminated.)<\/p>\n

\u201cThis show really gave me the opportunity to conquer that fear anonymously, with no preconceived notions about who I am or what I do or whether or not I am a singer,\u201d Parrish gushed to Us<\/em>. \u201cI got to come out and sing and find my voice and find that courage, and I was met with nothing but love and positivity. It gave me so much confidence to be able to sort of say, \u2018You know what? I am a singer.\u2019 And that meant so much to me. I just feel so grateful that this show gave me the stage to do what I love in a very non-scary way by coming out as this creature and seeing what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n
