If you want an autograph from The Crown <\/em><\/a>alum Claire Foy<\/strong>, make sure you don\u2019t offer her a blue pen.<\/p>\n

A disgruntled fan discovered that fact when Foy, 39, arrived at Rockefeller Center in New York City on Friday, December 15. In a viral video<\/a>, the Emmy winner is seen denying the request while she was being escorted by security.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t do blue, sorry,\u201d Foy said in the clip. The surprised autograph seeker responded, \u201cWhat?\u201d Foy repeated, \u201cI don\u2019t do blue,\u201d while numerous paparazzi snapped her photo. As the British actress continued walking, the startled fan could be heard groaning, \u201cOh, come on.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, moments later, Foy stopped to sign an autograph for another person who had a black sharpie.<\/p>\n

Helen Mirren,\u00a0Olivia Colman and The King\u2019s Speech star Freya Wilson are among the A-list actresses who have depicted the monarch on screen \u2014a number that has only [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Several people criticized Foy for ignoring the first fan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is the weirdest thing,\u201d one user wrote. \u201cNo blue, wonder what the reason is?\u201d \u201cI loved her so much since the crown,\u201d a second person commented. \u201cBut was pretty disappointed in her here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other fans defended Foy, claiming that blue ink was actually easier to imitate than black to create fake memorabilia.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost celebrities and athletes are taught not to do blue ink cause you can scan and forge the signature on other things and sell them,\u201d one fan explained.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia 76ers basketball star Patrick Beverly<\/strong> previously stated on the \u201cThe Pat Bev Podcast with Rone<\/a>\u201d in December 2022 why he does not sign autographs with a blue pen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was taught, maybe after my third year, that you\u2019re not supposed to use a blue pen because they can use that signature and slap it on another jersey and sell that, but you can\u2019t do that with a black pen or gray pen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Foy portrayed a young Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown<\/em><\/a>, earning her two Emmys, two SAG Awards and a Golden Globe. After the first two seasons, the role was played by Olivia Colman<\/strong> in seasons 3 and 4, followed by Imelda Staunton<\/strong> for seasons 5 and 6.<\/p>\n

Foy told People<\/em><\/a> that she has no regrets about leaving the show, which she returned to for several guest appearances over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got a lot of love for the people who are still doing the show, but for my own sanity, I ended the show when I ended it,\u201d Foy said in an interview earlier this month. \u201cI let it go and moved on and I think that\u2019s quite healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foy has been acting professionally since 2008 and has over 30 TV and film credits. She is best known for her work in The Crown<\/em>, however she does not want to be solely known for starring in the Netflix series.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t feel like I\u2019m defined by playing Queen Elizabeth,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s a huge honor that people liked that character and therefore see me as that character. So, I\u2019m not trying to actively go against that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actual Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s press secretary Dickie Arbiter<\/strong> did not approve of Colman and Staunton\u2019s performance, but he was full of praise for Foy\u2019s portrayal of his former boss.<\/p>\n
