The Christmas<\/a> season brings plenty of joy to our eyes, hearts and ears. But while the air is filled with classics like \u201cRockin\u2019 Around the Christmas Tree<\/a>,\u201d some holiday tunes are less fa-la-la<\/em> and more what the \u2026 ?<\/em><\/p>\n

For every \u201cAll I Want for Christmas Is You<\/a>,\u201d there\u2019s an oddity like Lou Monte\u2019s \u201cDominick the Donkey\u201d or an inescapable misfire like Elmo and Patsy\u2019s corny \u201cGrandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.\u201d Sometimes, though, the most unusual and inexplicable songs have come from A-list talents.<\/p>\n

Be it a daytime talk show host doing a duet with a controversial businessman-turned-president, a pair of Saturday Night Live<\/em> alums gossiping about Santa\u2019s \u201cBanana\u201d or Jon Bon Jovi<\/strong> singing a special message to a droid in a galaxy far, far away, there are some truly bizarre Christmas songs out there. Keep reading for a list of the strangest entries in the holiday music canon.\n<\/p>\n

Lady Gaga featuring Space Cowboy, \u201cChristmas Tree\u201d<\/h3>\n

The Gaga of 2008 might seem strange to those who know her as the more polished figure behind A Star Is Born<\/em> and Chromatica<\/em>. Long before she teamed up with the late Tony Bennett for two albums full of traditional pop classics, she was in her full Fame Monster era for \u201cChristmas Tree.\u201d The song\u2019s lyrics are a far cry from any of the depth you might find on \u201cShallow.\u201d Instead, Gaga tries to get sexy for Christmas with mixed results. \u201cHere, here, here \/ The best time of the year,\u201d she sings in a robotic monotone. \u201cTake off my stockings we\u2019re \/ Out spreading Christmas cheer.\u201d While the holidays can be a fruitful season for romance, it won\u2019t be found under this \u201cChristmas Tree.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGrinches beware, the holiday season is upon Us \u2014 and celebrities including Stassi Schroeder and Caila Quinn have the Christmas decorations to prove it! Schroeder, 35, teamed up with daughter Hartford, 2, in early November to get their Christmas tree up and decorated ASAP. \u201cYou like the red?\u201d Schroeder asked her daughter in an Instagram [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

William Shatner featuring Henry Rollins, \u201cJingle Bells\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Shatner\u2019s music career has been a target of ridicule and parody for decades, but in 2004, he released Has Been<\/em>, a spoken-word indie album that endeared him to younger generations. Shatner later teamed up with Rollins on 2018\u2019s Shatner Claus,<\/em> a Christmas album that also featured Iggy Pop, Brad Paisley, Rick Wakeman, Ian Anderson, Judy Collins <\/strong>and Dani Bender<\/strong>. Rollins and Shatner belted out a very aggressive version of \u201cJingle Bells\u201d and included a \u201cPunk Rock Version\u201d as a bonus track.<\/p>\n

Ludacris, \u201cLudacrismas\u201d<\/h3>\n

Few hip-hop holiday songs have had the crossover appeal of Run-DMC\u2019s \u201cChristmas in Hollis,\u201d but Ludacris tried his best with \u201cLudacrismas\u201d from 2007\u2019s Fred Claus.<\/em> Luda tried to merge Christmas with Southern crunk, but some of the lowbrow lyrics (\u201cJust because I\u2019m poor they always callin\u2019 me a faker \/ And cause my Christmas tree is decorated in toilet paper\u201d) have prevented it from becoming a Christmas classic. While it didn\u2019t take off, Ludacris is getting rave reviews for his work in 2023\u2019s Dashing Through the Snow<\/em> (and he recently spoke with Us Weekly<\/em> about why he was so excited to film that holiday movie<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Regis Philbin featuring Donald Trump, \u201cRudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer\u201d<\/h3>\n

Philbin was a television icon when he died in 2020, having hosted Live alongside Kathie Lee Gifford<\/strong> and Kelly Ripa<\/strong> for over 20 years, but what might not be known is that Philbin was a crooner who attempted to launch a singing career in 1968 with his debut, It\u2019s Time for Regis.<\/em> Though the album was a flop, Philbin never let go of his music dreams. In 2005, he released The Regis Philbin Christmas Album<\/em>, which featured several duets, including \u201cRudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer\u201d with Trump. A decade before being elected president, Trump appears as \u201cThe Trumpster\u201d in the song, ready to hire Rudolph to \u201cguide my sleigh tonight.\u201d However, with Trump recently indicted for attempting to overturn the 2020 election, this song might be best left on the naughty list.<\/p>\n

Ana Gasteyer featuring Maya Rudolph, \u201cSecret Santa\u201d<\/h3>\n

Gasteyer\u2019s comedy chops are undeniable, but in 2019, she showed that she could sing \u2014 and swing \u2014 with the release of Sugar & Booze<\/em>. The holiday collection of big band\/lounge\/bossa nova music is full of jazzy renditions of classics like \u201cLet It Snow,\u201d \u201cSleigh Ride\u201d and \u201cYou\u2019re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.\u201d Gasteyer is generally charming throughout, but things get a bit too silly when fellow SNL<\/em> alum Rudolph joins her on the wacky \u201cSecret Santa.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCall me a banana, but I went down to Havana \/ To buy my Secret Santa a present today \/ But I slipped on a banana, woke up in a cabana \/ Sippin\u2019 rum and orange Fanta, so I think that I\u2019ll stay,\u201d sings Gasteyer, exhausting nearly every rhyme for \u201cSanta\u201d (including reusing \u201cBanana\u201d for a specific part of the Secret Santa)\u00a0 by the time the song is over.<\/p>\n

Joe Pesci, \u201cIf It Doesn\u2019t Snow on Christmas\u201d<\/h3>\n

Pesci is forever associated with Christmas thanks to his role as Harry the burglar in Home Alone<\/em> and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York<\/em>, but he almost had a holiday hit on his hands with a song from his second album. In 1998, performing as his character from My Cousin Vinny<\/em>, Pesci released Vincent LaGuardia Gambini Sings Just for You<\/em>. In addition to originals like \u201cYo Cousin Vinny\u201d and \u201cWise Guy,\u201d the album includes the obscenity-laden holiday song \u201cIf It Doesn\u2019t Snow on Christmas.\u201d While hilarious, it\u2019s definitely not for the kids.<\/p>\n

Jon Bon Jovi, \u201cR2-D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas\u201d<\/h3>\n

With 2023\u2019s A Disturbance in the Force<\/em> reexamining the disastrous 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special,<\/em> it might be time to revisit 1980\u2019s Christmas in the Stars<\/em>. The album featured Star Wars<\/em>\u2013themed holiday songs, including \u201cWhat Can You Get a Wookiee for Christmas (When He Already Owns a Comb),\u201d \u201cThe Odds Against Christmas\u201d and the title track. One song, \u201cR2-D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas,\u201d is technically the first professional recording of John Bongiovi, a.k.a. Jon Bon Jovi<\/strong>. Then 17, Bon Jovi sung lead on the song with backup vocals provided by a children\u2019s choir. His cousin Tony Bongiovi<\/strong> coproduced the album, according to a 2005 interview on TheForce.net<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Calista Flockhart, \u201cSanta Baby\u201d<\/h3>\n

Younger readers might not know just how popular Ally McBeal<\/em> was during its heyday, but to clarify: The show wasn\u2019t just big, it was \u201clet\u2019s make a Christmas album\u201d big. A Very Ally Christmas<\/em><\/a> is very much a Vonda Shepard<\/strong> project (the singer-songwriter appeared as a fictionalized version of herself throughout Ally McBeal<\/em>\u2019s run). However, the album sees Jane Krakowski<\/strong> cover \u201cI Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,\u201d a pre\u2013Iron Man<\/em> Robert Downey Jr.<\/strong> duet with Shepard on \u201cWhite Christmas\u201d and Flockhart sing a full version of \u201cSanta Baby\u201d (which she did in season 3\u2019s \u201cBlue Christmas<\/a>\u201d episode).<\/p>\n

Seth MacFarlane, \u201c[Everybody\u2019s Waitin\u2019 for] The Man With the Bag\u201d<\/h3>\n

MacFarlane will likely be remembered for creating Family Guy<\/em>, Ted<\/em> and The Orville,<\/em> but he really wants you to think of him as a big band singer. In 2011, MacFarlane dropped his first album, Music Is Better Than Words<\/em>, which reached No. 2 on Billboard<\/em>\u2019s U.S. Jazz chart. His second album saw him get into the seasonal mood with Holiday for Swing<\/em>. MacFarlane croons some holiday favorites and lesser-known hits like \u201c[Everybody\u2019s Waitin\u2019 for] The Man with the Bag.\u201d If this kind of swing is your thing, MacFarlane teamed with Elizabeth Gillies<\/strong> to release We Wish You the Merriest<\/em> this year.<\/p>\n
