Holly Marie Combs<\/strong><\/a> is claiming Alyssa Milano<\/strong><\/a> threatened to sue the higher-ups of Charmed<\/em><\/a> if Shannen Doherty<\/strong><\/a> wasn\u2019t fired from the WB series.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Producer Jonathan Levin<\/strong>] said, \u2018We didn\u2019t mean to [fire Shannen], but we\u2019ve been backed into this corner. We\u2019re basically in this position where it\u2019s one or the other,\u2019\u201d Combs, 50, recalled during the Monday, December 18, episode of Doherty\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Be Clear<\/a>\u201d podcast. \u201c\u2018We were told [by Alyssa] it\u2019s her or [Shannen] and Alyssa has threatened to sue us for a hostile workplace environment.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Combs explained that she and Levin had the conversation during a meeting where Combs requested to leave the show after Doherty\u2019s exit. Combs said she told the producer that she never \u201cwanted to do\u201d Charmed<\/em> without Doherty, which allegedly caused Levin to get emotional and reveal details behind why Doherty, 52, was actually let go.<\/p>\n

Combs also claimed that Milano, 51, had built a case against her and Doherty and was allegedly \u201cdocumenting every time she felt uncomfortable on set.\u201d Combs admitted she was surprised by Milano\u2019s allegations, as she couldn\u2019t remember any \u201cbrawls\u201d or even \u201charsh words\u201d<\/a> exchanged between the trio in public.<\/p>\n

Charmed, which premiered on The WB in 1998, made headlines from the start as Aaron Spelling hired Shannen Doherty to play one of the three Halliwell sisters, four years after she was infamously let go from Spelling Television\u2019s Beverly Hills, 90210. \u201c[Aaron] [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt was all behind the scenes it was all in a trailer it was nothing that any of our crew noticed, that any of our guest stars ever noticed or noted,\u201d she said before praising how beloved Doherty was on set. \u201cThere\u2019s not a director that wouldn\u2019t work with you again. There\u2019s not a crew member that didn\u2019t have a great time working with you. So by today\u2019s standards, it wouldn\u2019t f\u2014king fly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Combs noted that there are people in the entertainment industry who behave badly and \u201cget away with it,\u201d adding, \u201cI don\u2019t think people understand that that never happened here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Combs starred on all eight seasons of Charmed<\/em>, which aired from 1998 to 2006, as middle sister Piper Halliwell. Milano portrayed youngest sibling Phoebe, while Doherty played Prue, the eldest of the three. Doherty\u2019s character was abruptly killed off the show at the end of season 3 and replaced with Rose McGowan<\/strong>, who joined the cast as long-lost half-sister Paige Matthews.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have had a long and prosperous relationship with Shannen and we didn\u2019t want to hold her back from what she wanted to do,\u201d Spelling Television said in a 2001 statement of Doherty\u2019s exit. \u201cWe wish her all the best and much-continued success.\u201d<\/p>\n

While\u00a0 Doherty\u2019s reasons for leaving the show were unclear at the time, she opened up about her exit months later amid reports that she and Milano didn\u2019t get along.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was too much drama on the set and not enough passion for the work,\u201d Doherty told Entertainment Tonight<\/em> at the time. \u201cYou know, I\u2019m 30 years old and I don\u2019t have time for drama in my life anymore. To me it\u2019s sort of whatever. I\u2019ll miss Holly a lot and that\u2019s really the only thing I want to clear up.\u201d<\/p>\n

While discussing the topic with Combs on her podcast on Monday, Doherty explained that nobody \u201cin their right mind would quit a hit show that is paying them a ton of money [and] that they enjoyed doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI lived a year after [leaving the show] sort of replaying everything in my brain and really trying to find those moments and I couldn\u2019t find them,\u201d Doherty said. She alleged that she and Milano \u201cnever had it out\u201d with each other, saying she couldn\u2019t \u201cremember being mean to [Alyssa] on set.\u201d She hypothesized that disagreements over her personal website or pay disparities could have contributed to the tension.<\/p>\n

Her career took her from navigating one of TV\u2019s most memorable love triangles to casting spells to reviving some of her beloved roles decades later. The actress was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in April 1971. She got [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Combs, meanwhile, defended Doherty for doing all she could to keep things positive between the three on-screen sisters and wondered if Doherty\u2019s previous firing from Beverly Hills, 90210<\/em> \u2014 also helmed by Spelling Television \u2014 contributed to her being fired from Charmed<\/em>. (Doherty starred as Brenda Walsh for four seasons on 90210<\/em> before she was let go amid alleged tension between her and other members of the cast.)<\/p>\n

\u201cPreviously you had discussed with [producers] that the tension was getting high and you didn\u2019t want a reply of what had happened before,\u201d Combs recalled. \u201cSo you were preemptively trying to work it out. And I wonder \u2026 because they had known they had [fired you] before, and 90210<\/em> went on \u2026 I almost wonder if they were OK with the publicity.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Combs and Doherty claimed that Milano\u2019s allegations were the reason for the BH90210<\/em> actress\u2019 exit, Milano has previously denied knowing why Doherty left the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if she got fired, we never really found out what happened,\u201d she said during a 2013 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen<\/em>, admitting that there were \u201cdefinitely some rough days<\/a>\u201d between the three women.<\/p>\n
