The couple that works together, stays together! Mark Consuelos<\/strong> <\/a>is set to join his wife, Kelly Ripa<\/strong><\/a>, at the\u00a0Live\u00a0<\/i>anchor desk<\/a> full-time \u2014 and he doesn\u2019t foresee any marital issues<\/a> as a result.<\/p>\n \u201cI consider this a safe place. To be honest, sometimes I wait if I have a little something I want to get off my chest, like, \u2018You know, this thing I want to talk about,\u2019\u201d the\u00a0Riverdale<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>alum, 51, quipped during a Friday, February 17, guest appearance on\u00a0Live With Kelly and Ryan<\/i><\/a>\u00a0about joining the team. \u201cI\u2019ve done it here when I\u2019ve been a guest host] because I\u2019m safe, what could possibly go happen?\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cUsually, nine out of 10 times, it\u2019s been resolved here [before we go home]. One time it went bad.\u201d<\/p>\n Ripa, 52, whom Consuelos married in 1996, chimed in to contradict his on-camera claims about their broadcasted arguments. \u201cIt\u2019s never resolved, just so you know. It\u2019s all unresolved,\u201d the\u00a0Live Wire\u00a0<\/i>author<\/a> joked on Friday.<\/p>\n The married couple confirmed during the Thursday, February 16, episode of\u00a0Live\u00a0<\/i>that Consuelos would take over Ryan Seacrest<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s hosting duties later this year. The\u00a0American Idol\u00a0<\/i><\/a>host, 48, will take a step back from the morning show<\/a> after nearly six years.<\/p>\n \u201cWorking alongside Kelly over the past six years has been a dream job and one of the highlights of my career,\u201d Seacrest said in a statement at the time<\/a>. \u201cShe has been an amazing partner, friend, and confidant, and although we will always be a part of each other\u2019s lives, I will miss our mornings together. \u2026 We\u2019ve made memories to last a lifetime<\/a>, met some of the most incredible people and had the warmest welcome into the homes of so many viewers across America.\u201d<\/p>\n Ripa has cohosted\u00a0Live\u00a0<\/i>since 2001 when she joined longtime host Regis Philbin<\/a> following Kathie Lee Gifford<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s exit. After Philbin \u2014 who died in 2020<\/a> \u2014 announced his retirement in 2011, a rotating panel of cohosts filled in until Seacrest started in 2017.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is my favorite show in the morning. When I was in Vancouver [filming\u00a0Riverdale]<\/i>\u00a0and [Kelly and I] were separated when the borders were closed, I got to watch you guys,\u201d Consuelos said on Friday<\/a>, referring to lockdown for the coronavirus pandemic<\/a>. \u201cAnd in Canada, it\u2019s on 15 channels! On the West Coast, you can watch at 6 a.m. [via the] East Coast feed. So, I felt connected. I get to share a cup of coffee with you every morning before the show and now I\u2019ll have one with you on the show, as well.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cThat chair that [Ryan is currently] sitting in is an iconic seat. It\u2019s a great honor for me to sit there. It\u2019s an iconic show and I think it\u2019s going to be a blast.\u201d<\/p>\n The\u00a0Kingdom\u00a0<\/i>alum further revealed he doesn\u2019t have any \u201csecond thoughts\u201d about hosting alongside his wife since they are old pros at working together.<\/p>\n \u201cWe did this before in much more difficult circumstances. We were together on a soap opera for seven years,\u201d Consuelos \u2014 who shares three children<\/a> with the New Jersey native \u2014 added, referring to their early jobs on\u00a0All My Children.\u00a0<\/i>\u201cWe were scene partners, we worked 12-hour days, usually an hour-and-a-half commute both ways.
