\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Joshua Bassett<\/strong><\/a> is now an Emmy<\/strong><\/a> award-winning songwriter!<\/p>\n The 22-year-old entertainer picked up his first major award win for Outstanding Original Song for a Children\u2019s or Young Teen Program for his song \u201cFinally Free<\/a>\u201d at the 2023 Children\u2019s and Family Emmy Awards<\/em> on Saturday night (December 16).<\/p>\n Along with Joshua<\/strong>, his co-writers Doug Rockwell<\/strong> and Tova<\/strong> joined him on stage to accept the award at the ceremony.<\/p>\n \u201cFirst, I want to [say] thank you so much to Disney for betting on us. I want to [say] thank you to Tim Federle<\/strong> for believing in us when no one else did. I want to [say] thank you to my family for cheering me on from the sidelines. To Doug<\/strong> and Tova<\/strong>, for being such beautiful hearts and such a safe space to write this song. To Jesus Christ for saving my life,\u201d Joshua <\/strong>said in his acceptance speech.<\/p>\n \u201cI also want to say, while it\u2019s an honor to receive an award for a song called \u2018Finally Free,\u2019 we live in a world where not everyone is free. We must fight for the oppressed and speak out for the voices until finally, we can all be free.
