Sony confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> on Friday but shared that Bialik could return for primetime specials.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings<\/strong> will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy!,\u201d a spokesperson told the outlet. \u201cWe are truly grateful for all of Mayim\u2019s contributions to Jeopardy!, and we hope to continue to work with her on primetime specials.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bialik was made a temporary host of the longstanding NBC series in September 2021 alongside Jennings, 49, after former emcee Alex Trebek\u2019s death<\/a>.\u00a0 (Trebek, who began hosting the show in 1984, died in November 2020 at age 80 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.)<\/p>\n

Bialik and Jennings split time with their hosting duties throughout the next year, before making the gig permanent<\/a> in summer 2022.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom child stars to Hollywood mainstays! Mayim Bialik, Joey Lawrence and more actors paved the way for lasting careers when they appeared on\u00a0Blossom\u00a0in the early \u201890s. The sitcom ran on NBC for five seasons \u2014 from July 1990 to May 1995. Bialik (Blossom Russo), Lawrence (Joey Russo), Jenna von \u00d6y (Six Lemeure), Michael Stoyanov (Anthony [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The game show spent close to two years searching for the perfect host before landing on Bialik and Jennings, with celebrities including LeVar Burton<\/strong>, Aaron Rodgers<\/strong>, Katie Couric<\/strong> and Anderson Cooper<\/strong> spending time as guest stars. While former Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richard<\/strong>s was initially lined up as the new permanent host, he eventually stepped down in August 2021 after controversial comments he made resurfaced.<\/p>\n

Bialik, meanwhile, faced her own fair share of backlash after taking up the mantle of Jeopardy!<\/em> host, being labeled as an \u201canti-vaxxer\u201d and \u201canti-feminist\u201d<\/a> for our outspoken views, labels the actress called \u201churtful because they\u2019re untrue,\u201d in a September 2021 interview with Glamour<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Jeopardy! viewers also took issue with Bialik\u2019s hosting tactics in March 2022, when she began referring to the opening round of the show as \u201cSingle Jeopardy,\u201d something Trebek himself used on occasion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did it once. If it wasn\u2019t right, they would\u2019ve had me redo it,\u201d she told Yahoo Entertainment<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cI barely act alone. I promise. There\u2019s so many things that we retape. We go back, I flub things. You\u2019re seeing an edited version. So, it\u2019s funny. When I saw that, I was like, \u2018But if it was literally not kosher, there\u2019s a million producers and writers and researchers.\u2019 They\u2019re all listening to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bialik added that she understands \u201cpeople care a lot\u201d about the long-running series, noting that she was \u201csorry\u201d for the misstep.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m doing my best!\u201d she explained. \u201cI will never do it again! Even if it\u2019s in this script, I will not say it.\u201d<\/p>\n
