[Series creator]\u00a0<\/b>Mike White<\/strong><\/a> pokes fun at the worst kind of people, the truly entitled and rich people behaving badly. Everybody likes to see them get their comeuppance. The first two seasons, which were set in Hawaii and Sicily, respectively,<\/a> received praise for their\u00a0<\/span>writing and performances, taking home a total of 11 Emmys and countless other awards between them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In November 2022, the show was renewed for a third season. After the season 2 finale the following month, White shared during HBO Max\u2019s\u00a0<\/em><\/span>Unpacking S2 E7<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/em>special that the next installment may take place in Asia<\/a> and focus on \u201cdeath and Eastern religion and spirituality.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex,\u201d he explained. \u201cI think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Due to its\u00a0<\/b>overwhelming critical success and undeniable popularity, celebrities have been vocal about wanting a chance to join the cast in future seasons. Hayden Panettiere<\/strong><\/a> told E! News<\/em><\/a> in March 2023 that booking a role on the show was at the top of her to-do list after returning to the acting world for Scream\u00a0VI<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI want to do it so bad,\u201d she gushed.\u00a0\u201cI want to do it, like Tom Cruise<\/strong><\/a> jumping on [a]\u00a0couch bad.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n When it came to how she could see herself fitting into the White Lotus universe, the Nashville<\/em> alum cited Jennifer Coolidge\u2019s<\/strong> <\/a>breakout character, Tanya McQuoid \u2014 a role that won<\/a> the Legally Blonde<\/em> star multiple Emmys, Critics Choice Awards and a Golden Globe \u2014 as her way into the fold.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
