In April, Donald Trump<\/strong>\u2019s lawyers are set to defend him in civil court against allegations<\/a> from writer E. Jean Carroll<\/strong> that he raped her in a department store in the mid-\u201990s. When they do, they really, really want to ensure that jurors are not allowed to hear the infamous Access Hollywood<\/em> tape<\/a> in which Trump brags about grabbing women \u201cby the pussy\u201d without their consent. Why? Because they know how bad it makes him sound!<\/p>\n In court papers filed late Thursday, Trump attorneys Alina Habba<\/strong> and Michael Madaio<\/strong> argued<\/a> that the 2005 tape, which emerged while Trump was running for president the first time, should be banned from the trial. (They want both the tape itself and any references to it blocked.) Calling the recording \u201cirrelevant and highly prejudicial,\u201d the attorneys claim, per the Associated Press, that it \u201cmight unjustly be used to suggest to jurors that Trump had a propensity for sexual assault and therefore must have raped Carroll.\u201d\u00a0Why might the tape give jurors that idea, you ask? As a reminder, Trump told<\/a> Access Hollywood<\/em> host Billy Bush:<\/strong> \u201cI\u2019m automatically attracted to beautiful [women]. I just start kissing them. It\u2019s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don\u2019t even wait. And when you\u2019re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. (Trump has been accused<\/a> of sexual misconduct by at least 26 women and has denied any and all allegations against him.)<\/p>\n During a deposition in October, Trump\u2014who claimed in a 2019 interview with The Hill that Carroll was \u201ctotally lying\u201d\u00a0and not his \u201ctype\u201d\u2014mistook Carroll for his second ex-wife<\/a>, Marla Maples.<\/strong> At other points in the under-oath deposition, Trump called Carroll a \u201cnut job\u201d and continued to\u00a0insist<\/a>\u00a0that her allegations are a \u201choax.\u201d<\/p>\n In perhaps related news, Ivana Trump reportedly\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0during her 1990 divorce deposition that Trump had raped her the prior year, after ripping out handfuls of her hair.
