Chase Stokes<\/strong><\/a> has some seriously sweet things to say about girlfriend Kelsea Ballerini<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stokes, 31, spoke about Ballerini, 30, at length for an Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> piece published on Thursday, December 14, in honor of her being named one of the outlet\u2019s Entertainers of the Year.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething Kelsea has really been good at since the beginning of her career is keeping her authenticity as a songwriter and really honoring and staying in that lane,\u201d Stokes began, shouting out the honesty of Ballerini\u2019s 2023 EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat<\/em><\/a> \u201cin particular.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ballerini wrote the collection of songs in the wake of her divorce<\/a> from Morgan Evans<\/strong> last year. Stokes told EW<\/em> that he heard the EP before he and Ballerini even met in person. (The pair were first linked in January and confirmed their romance one month later.)<\/p>\n

\u201cShe sent me Welcome Ma<\/em>t and said, \u2018I want you to listen to this because I want you to know who I am and I want you to have some clarity,\u2019\u201d Stokes recalled. \u201cThis was before she had any idea of how she was going to put it out [or] what her plan was, and watching it go from this idea into what it\u2019s become has been a wild journey. \u2026 That level of vulnerability and honesty has completely shifted her career.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stokes counted himself lucky to have been by Ballerini\u2019s side as she released her most honest work yet into the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo put [Rolling Up the Welcome Mat<\/em>] out silently and not get radio play and for the world to really accept it in the way that they have is a testament to her artistry. To be that person\u2019s partner and to watch all of this happen in front of my eyes has been so cool. Proud feels like a really lame way of saying it, but I\u2019m so f\u2014king proud,\u201d the Outer Banks<\/em> star gushed, noting that Ballerini \u201ctouched a lot of women\u201d who have dealt with similar experiences.<\/p>\n

The country singer and the Outer Banks star were first linked in January 2023 after they were spotted together at the College Football Playoff National Championship in Los Angeles. The admiration goes both ways, as Ballerini proved during a November appearance on Alex Cooper<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s the most emotionally intelligent man I\u2019ve ever met in my life,\u201d Ballerini told Cooper, 29, of Stokes. \u201cI keep telling him he\u2019s a man written by a woman.\u201d<\/p>\n
