On Friday, Dec. 15, the court awarded the royal $180,000 (\u00a3140,000) in damages in his phone-hacking case, according to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/prince-harry-wins-partial-victory-damages-ruling-phone-hacking-case-1235757701\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Prince, who has arguably spent every moment since his birth in the spotlight, accused the publishers of hacking into his phone, as well as other illegal activities, to learn private information that could then be turned into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2023\/12\/prince-harry-offers-bold-courtroom-statement-meghan-markle-is-not-safe-in-the-uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">news stories<\/a>. For one thing, the damages payment he was awarded is just a smidge more than half the \u00a3320,000 Harry had been seeking \u2014 and these days, Harry is seeking some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2023\/12\/meghan-markle-prince-harrys-archewell-foundation-down-11-million-in-donations-rumored-to-be-in-dire-financial-straits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">additional income<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the ruling comes days after another court ruled Harry had to pay the <em>Mail on Sunday<\/em> more than \u00a348,000 ($61,000) in legal costs after he lost an attempt to get part of the paper\u2019s defense in a libel case thrown out.
