NFL commissioner Roger Goodell<\/strong> is \u201cincredibly proud\u201d of game officials after a penalty call led Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes<\/strong><\/a> to get extremely upset<\/a> after his team\u2019s loss on Sunday, December 10.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s their job: to call when there\u2019s a foul. There was no question about that foul. It was absolutely the right call,\u201d Goodell, 64, said during a Wednesday, December 13, news conference at the league\u2019s winter meetings, per to Yahoo Sports<\/a>. \u201cIf you don\u2019t call that, obviously, we would have been subject \u2014 our officials would have been subject \u2014 to criticism also.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Goodell acknowledged that \u201cno human being\u201d is \u201cperfect,\u201d he fully stood by the controversial pre-snap penalty.<\/p>\n

\u201cI find it ironic that I\u2019m standing here answering a question about when the officials got it right, and they\u2019re being criticized,\u201d he continued, adding that \u201ceverybody\u201d in the sports community \u201cis acknowledging the officials were absolutely correct.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPatrick Mahomes and Tom Brady have more NFL fans than they can count, but their kids are the only cheering squad they really need. Mahomes and wife Brittany Matthews were empty nesters when he won his first Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2020. However, when Mahomes took home his second championship [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Referees reversed the Chiefs\u2019 touchdown in the last two minutes of their game against the Buffalo Bills after determining wide receiver Kadarius Toney<\/strong> was offsides after a lateral pass<\/a> by tight end Travis Kelce<\/strong>. The result led the Chiefs to lose with a final score of 20 to 17, marking their second loss in two weeks.<\/p>\n

Mahomes, 28, took the call particularly hard and could be seen yelling about the decision<\/a> on the field. After the game, the athlete was caught on camera telling Bills quarterback Josh Allen<\/strong>, \u201cWildest f\u2013king call I\u2019ve ever seen. Offensive offsides on that play, man, f\u2013king terrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

One day after the game, Mahomes apologized for his hot-headed behavior during an interview with Kansas City\u2019s 610 Sports Radio.<\/p>\n

\u201cI regret acting like that, but more than anything, I regretted the way I acted towards Josh after the game, because he had nothing to do with it,\u201d Mahomes said. \u201cI was still hot and emotional, but you can\u2019t do that, man. It\u2019s not a great example for kids watching the game, so I was more upset about that than I was about me on the sidelines.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the Texas native acknowledged that \u201cstuff like that happens\u201d in the NFL, he assured his response came from a place of deep caring.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love it. I love this game, I love my teammates, I want to go out there and put everything on the line to win,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut obviously, can\u2019t do that. Can\u2019t be that way toward officials or really anybody in life.\u201d<\/p>\n
