Five films later, Twihards are still reeling over the vampires\u2019 pale skin, supernatural abilities and the fact that Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) sparkles in the sunlight. Based on the successful novels by Stephenie Meyer, the films spanned five years and [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cIt was awkward at times for the two of us standing together on a balcony and a thousand girls booing Rob but cheering for me,\u201d Lautner shared. \u201cAnd then this [other] half booing me and cheering for [him] but us having to have some sort of friendship was difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n
While he and Pattinson did not let the public\u2019s opinion fracture their professional relationship, forming a personal connection didn\u2019t come easy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe thing with me and Rob is we\u2019re very, very different people,\u201d Lautner confessed. \u201cWe never really connected on a deep level just because we\u2019re different humans but he was always fantastic and the sweetest person ever.\u201d<\/p>\n
As Lautner reflected on his time in the Twilight<\/em> franchise, he shared that he can\u2019t help but have \u201cgreat feelings\u201d about his time on the project. Earlier this year, Lautner spoke about how the reaction to the franchise made him and Pattinson feel competitive<\/a> towards one another.<\/p>\n\u201cI was so young and yeah, I do feel like it was very strange traveling the world and being in different cities and having thousands of screaming fans either taking your side or the other guy\u2019s side,\u201d he recalled on a February episode of \u201cThe Toast\u201d podcast. \u201cLike, we\u2019re a team. We\u2019re both just trying to make the best movies. It was a little bizarre, the competitiveness. There wasn\u2019t a competitiveness between me and Rob, but having that constant reminder, it definitely had an impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
