Both events will be held at the Wythe Hotel, with On Air Fest running from February 28th through March 1st. SiriusXM is merging with its largest shareholder, Liberty Media\u2019s SiriusXM tracking stock group, <a href=\"https:\/\/d1io3yog0oux5.cloudfront.net\/_a9e6aec64db17016703245ade4a056c1\/siriusxm\/db\/2217\/21435\/file\/2023-12-12_Liberty_Media_and_SiriusXM_Announce_Transaction_2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to form a new public company<\/a> with one class of stock and no majority shareholder.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Wall Street appears to approve, with the stock up about 4 percent on the news. \u201cWe view the conclusion as constructive to SIRI due to benefits from higher liquidity, lower complexity and potentially future index inclusion,\u201d Wells Fargo analyst Steve Cahall wrote in a note. Last month, SiriusXM previewed a revamped, consolidated app that looks and acts much more like other streaming apps on the market. The podcast host cut a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, which includes TV brands like CNN and HBO that have produced popular podcasts in recent years like <em>All There Is with Anderson Cooper<\/em> and <em>The Official Game of Thrones Podcast: House of the Dragon<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">WBD will also use Spotify Audience Network as one of its ad sales partners. The deal includes shows from the WB part of the WBD portfolio, including Turner Classic Movies\u2019 <em>The Plot Thickens<\/em> and WBD Sports\u2019 <em>The Steam Room<\/em>. As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/spotify-inks-podcast-deal-with-warner-bros-discovery-for-cnn-hbo-and-more-shows-1235740654\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> notes<\/a>, this announcement comes shortly after <a href=\"https:\/\/advertise.acast.com\/news-and-insights\/warner-bros-discovery-names-acast-exclusive-podcast-distribution-and-monetization-partner-for-select-brands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WBD cut a deal with Acast<\/a> to host and monetize shows from the brands formerly of Discovery, like Food Network, Travel Channel, and HGTV.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\"><strong>Layoffs at TWiT, buyouts at KCRW<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">The industry\u2019s tough year isn\u2019t over yet. <a href=\"https:\/\/podnews.net\/article\/twit-transcript?utm_source=podnews.net&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=podnews.net:2023-12-12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Podnews<\/em> reports<\/a> that This Week in Tech (TWiT), one of the earliest podcast networks, announced that it had laid off longtime hosts Jason Howell and Ant Pruitt and editor Victor Bognot. TWiT founder and host Leo Laporte said the network has suffered from a downturn in advertising and had an ominous message for listeners: \u201cRadio got about 100 years, podcasting got a decade. That\u2019s about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\">Meanwhile, NPR member station KCRW in Santa Monica is facing a $3 million shortfall, according to the <em>Los Angeles Times<\/em>, and is attempting to stave off layoffs with voluntary buyouts.
