Zac Efron<\/strong><\/a> is proving that once a wildcat, always a wildcat.<\/p>\n

While being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Efron, 36, gave thanks to High School Musical<\/em><\/a> director Kenny Ortega<\/strong> and producer Bill Borden<\/strong>, who were in the audience.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou guys were both instrumental in giving me my start in High School Musical<\/em>,\u201d Efron said on Monday, December 11. \u201cFor that, I\u2019m just eternally grateful. I still think about it every day \u2014 I sing the songs in the shower.\u201d<\/p>\n

Efron, who starred alongside Vanessa Hudgens<\/strong> and Ashley Tisdale<\/strong> in Disney Channel\u2019s High School Musical<\/em> trilogy, took it back to his Troy Bolton days when he yelled out the movie\u2019s iconic phrase: \u201cGo Wildcats!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom dreamy teen heartthrob to leading man! Zac Efron has done everything from musicals to comedy to crime thrillers during his career, and his love life has been just as interesting as his work. The actor first won over audiences as Troy Bolton in Disney Channel\u2019s High School Musical, which premiered in 2006. Efron became [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At the ceremony, Efron gushed that \u201cit\u2019s a dream come true\u201d to have a star on Hollywood Boulevard.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have no idea how I\u2019m feeling right now,\u201d Efron confessed. \u201cIt\u2019s so surreal. I\u2019ve been acting and singing and dancing for as long as I can remember, since I was a little boy, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I\u2019d be standing here today in front of such dear friends, colleagues throughout the years and lifelong fans who have been with me since day one. I love you guys so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aside from his High School Musical<\/em> family, Efron also gave a special shoutout to his parents.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you so much, Mom. Thank you, Dad,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of sacrifices that you guys have made for me over my life, and it couldn\u2019t have been easy, but thanks for believing in me. You\u2019re the reason I\u2019m here today. So, it\u2019s very, very special. To have you guys both here means everything in the world to me, thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGo, wildcats! High School Musical took over 7.7 million TV screens in the United States when it premiered in 2006, making it the highest-rated Disney Channel Original Movie at the time. The modern Romeo and Juliet tale follows two teenagers from completely different cliques who bond over their love of music. Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Elsewhere in the speech, Efron paid tribute to the late Matthew Perry, whom he costarred with in the 2009 film 17 Again<\/em>. (Perry died at the age of 54 in October after being found unresponsive in a hot tub. A cause of death<\/a> has not been confirmed.)<\/p>\n

\u201cCollaborating with him and [director] Burr Steers<\/strong> \u2014 it was so much fun and it really did propel me and motivate me in so many ways,\u201d Efron noted. \u201cIt really pushed me into the next chapter of my career, and for that, thank you so much, Matthew. Thinking about you a lot today.\u201d<\/p>\n
