Golden Bachelor<\/em><\/a>\u2019s Gerry Turner<\/strong> and his fianc\u00e9, Theresa Nist<\/strong><\/a>, have a lot to celebrate this holiday season.<\/p>\n \u201cGoing to be a very Gerry Christmas with Theresa and our blended family,\u201d Gerry, 72, wrote via Instagram<\/a> on Saturday, December 9.<\/p>\n In the photo, Theresa, 70, posed alongside her daughter, Jen Woolston<\/strong>, her daughter-in-law, Amanda Nist<\/strong>, and Gerry\u2019s two daughters, Jenny Young<\/strong> and Angie Turner<\/strong>. All of the women posed on a staircase with the younger generation donning a red sweatshirt that read \u201cA Very Gerry Christmas,\u201d with Theresa\u2019s in pink.<\/p>\n The post comes just weeks after Gerry and Theresa made history when they became the first Golden Bachelor couple to get engaged<\/a> during the season 1 finale. During the After the Final Rose<\/em> special, the pair also announced their plans to tie the knot in a televised Golden Wedding<\/em><\/a> via ABC on Thursday, January 4.<\/p>\n As for why the couple is eager to wed so quickly, Gerry explained that their age played a role in the decision.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re old! Think about it this way: You can wait a year in your 20s because that might be 3 percent of your remaining life,\u201d he explained on the \u201cBachelor Happy Hour\u201d podcast in November. \u201cWhen you\u2019re in your 70s, a year could be 10 percent or 20 percent of the time you have left.\u201d<\/p>\n Gerry also added that he and the New Jersey native \u201cdidn\u2019t want to put off\u201d something that they \u201creally felt was right.\u201d Theresa noted that the couple plan to start their life together \u201cjust outside\u201d the Charleston, South Carolina area.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s always had this thought for the last two years and no one really knew that,\u201d Theresa said. \u201cIt was all like, \u2018Are you going to move to Indiana?\u2019 But I wasn\u2019t moving to Indiana and I have a son and a daughter and I live four minutes from my daughter and my three grandsons, and I have a son who lives in South Carolina.\u201d<\/p>\n You have successfully subscribed.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>
