The 40-year-old actor \u2013 who has two children with wife Joanne Tucker \u2013 portrays Enzo Ferrari in his new movie \u2018Ferrari\u2019 and he related to what he read in the car maker\u2019s diaries when doing his research because he is also a \u201ccreature of habit\u201d, which he believes is due to the \u201cwild and inconsistent\u201d nature of his career.<\/p>\n
Speaking about the diaries, which were all written in purple ink, Adam told Empire magazine: \u201cTo me, that was very telling about how paranoid he was, and how exacting he was with every little detail.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe didn\u2019t want anyone to be able to recreate his signature. <\/p>\n
\u201cHis life was very regimented and he was definitely a creature of habit, which is something I relate to \u2013 maybe because acting is so wild and inconsistent that you crave some kind of structure.<\/p>\n
\nAdam praised director Michael Mann for the forensic research he puts into his subjects.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cPeople are focusing on that part and then kind of forget about the emotion that he\u2019s after.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAll of Michael\u2019s notes are about internal life.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe\u2019s not someone who\u2019s done all this research and has to prove it by every moment being 100 per cent historically accurate.<\/p>\n
\n“The thing he\u2019s mostly pursuing is a feeling.”<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere\u2019s a reason he\u2019s specific about it having to be this engine \u2013 you can\u2019t just recreate that feeling with anything. He\u2019s also very interested in the abstract.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAdam previously praised his wife – who he met at The Juilliard School in the early 2000s – for being a steadying influence and helping him \u201cremain a normal person\u201d amid the \u201cHollywood craziness\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nHe has said: \u201cShe\u2019ll persuade me to go and see old friends, even if I\u2019m not really feeling like it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHaving a person like that in your life is far more important than a successful career.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
