As Jonathan Majors<\/strong>\u2019s domestic assault trial<\/a> finished its first week in a Manhattan courthouse, text messages between the actor and his accuser, ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari,<\/strong> were unsealed; they had previously been referenced in a pretrial filing<\/a> from the prosecution. Majors has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment originating from an alleged domestic dispute<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n Six months before Majors was arrested<\/a> on March 25 and Jabbari was treated at a hospital for what authorities said were \u201cminor injuries to her head and neck,\u201d there was apparently another altercation between the couple. According to People<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> the alleged incident itself is precluded from coming into the trial\u2014but text messages exchanged between the two parties afterward are admissible as Molineux evidence<\/a>, which can help prosecutors establish that a defendant\u2019s behavior is \u201cinextricably interwoven with the charged acts.\u201d In the pretrial filing, prosecutors also noted \u201cmedical records from London related to an incident that occurred in September 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n The text correspondence presented before jurors on Friday appeared to show Majors telling Jabbari, \u201cI fear you have no perspective of what could happen if you go to the hospital. They will ask you questions, and as I don\u2019t think you actually protect us, it could lead to investigation even if you do lie, and they suspect something.\u201d<\/p>\n Jabbari, who on the second day of the trial testified to Majors\u2019s \u201cviolent temper,\u201d<\/a> read these texts before the court, per People.<\/em> She reportedly cried while reading one: \u201cI will tell the doctor I bumped my head.\u201d Assistant District Attorney Kelli Galaway<\/strong> then took over the recitation: \u201cI will tell the doctor I bumped my head if I go. I\u2019m going to give it one more day, but I can\u2019t sleep and I need some stronger pain killers. That\u2019s all: why would I tell them what really happened when it\u2019s clear I want to be with you.\u201d<\/p>\n During a cross-examination of Jabbari earlier this week, Majors\u2019s criminal defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry,<\/strong> opened the door to this evidence being presented, according to People.<\/em> At one point, she reportedly asked Jabbari why she had told emergency staff that she did not remember how she\u2019d been injured following the March 2023 incident. Judge Michael Gaffey,<\/strong> who had previously ruled the earlier incident inadmissible, said Friday that the attorney had asked this in an effort to question Jabbari\u2019s reliability, \u201ceven though they knew there might be another reason she was not forthcoming.\u201d<\/p>\n In the September 2022 exchange, Majors appeared to threaten suicide if Jabbari sought medical treatment for her injured head. \u201cLast night I considered killing myself versus coming home,\u201d Majors wrote to Jabbari, adding: \u201cI need love too. Or maybe I\u2019m such a monster and horrible man, I don\u2019t deserve it. And I should just kill myself. In this way, my existence is miserable, I want to die.\u201d Jabbari apparently replied, \u201cI will not go to the doctor if you don\u2019t feel safe with me doing so, or don\u2019t trust me to. I promise you I would never mention you but understand your fear.\u201d<\/p>\n As reported by People,<\/em> Majors then scolded Jabbari for not hugging him after the alleged argument. \u201cI will probably kill myself, it\u2019s not really contemplating anymore,\u201d he reportedly wrote. \u201cI\u2019m a monster, a horrible man, not capable of love. I\u2019m killing myself soon.\u201d Jabbari replied, \u201cJonathan, you can\u2019t say this I\u2019m going to have to tell someone.\u201d<\/p>\n After the reading of the texts, Galway asked Jabbari directly why she had told emergency personnel in March that she was not aware of how she\u2019d become injured. \u201cI was just scared of the consequences of it,\u201d Jabbari responded. \u201cI still wanted to protect him.\u201d<\/p>\n Chaudhry has maintained her client\u2019s innocence, saying during opening statements<\/a>, \u201cIn revenge, [Jabbari] made these false allegations to ruin Mr. Majors and take away everything he spent his life working for.\u201d If convicted on his misdemeanor charges, Majors faces up to a year in jail, according to<\/a> The Hollywood Reporter.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
