Renee Rapp<\/strong> is starring as Regina George in the new movie musical version of Mean Girls<\/em><\/a>, and she was amazed to win the approval of the actress who played the role in the original film.<\/p>\n

Rachel McAdams<\/strong><\/a> portrayed Regina, a rich, popular mean girl and leader of a clique known as The Plastics, in the 2004 film<\/a>. She told Entertainment Tonight<\/em> <\/a>that Rapp, 23, was definitely the right choice to bring the character back to life in the new movie.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think she can do any wrong,\u201d McAdams, 45, said. \u201cShe is amazing. She\u2019s already got me beat with that voice. I\u2019m just excited to see her incarnation. It\u2019s such a great character. It\u2019s so much fun to play. I hope she has a great time with it. I can\u2019t wait to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rapp was overjoyed watching the video of McAdams praising her.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s so cool. She\u2019s so sick. I saw this and I was so geeked,\u201d she told ET<\/em>. \u201cI love her. I\u2019m obsessed with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rapp previously played Regina in the Mean Girls<\/em> Broadway musical from 2019-2020, and she said she\u2019s matured since playing the role on stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very different \u2019cause when I was doing it on Broadway I was 18, 19 and now I\u2019m 23, 24, so I\u2019m a different person,\u201d Rapp added. \u201cI also think the cinematic medium is more catered to the acting that I like to do. I like the intimacy and I like the nuance that you don\u2019t necessarily get on stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMean Girls debuted in theaters on April 30, 2004 \u2014 but the teen film is celebrated annually on October 3, thanks to one of the movie\u2019s most memorable scenes. The film is responsible for creating iconic lines including, \u201cOn Wednesdays, we wear pink\u201d and \u201cIs butter a carb?\u201d But when Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett) innocently [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rapp hopes she can emulate McAdams\u2019 performance in the original Mean Girls<\/em>, and she told People<\/em> <\/a>in April that in addition to McAdams\u2019 acting ability, she also loves her personality.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s so amazing,\u201d Rapp said. \u201cAnd she\u2019s also just so \u2014 she just is so classy, which I actually find is probably the biggest difference between the two of us. I feel like she\u2019s very kept and, like, ta-da-da<\/em>, and I feel very relaxed and say whatever comes to mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rapp left the Broadway show after a year, and she previously told The Guardian<\/em><\/a> in August she was bullied and was the victim of body-shaming from other people involved with the show.<\/p>\n

People on the production \u201cwould say some vile \u2026 things to me about my body,\u201d Rapp said. She revealed she was struggling with an eating disorder which further complicated starring in the Broadway show.<\/p>\n
